Carragher: "Tuchel took his first coaching job aged 27. He is only 5 years older than Frank, but as a manager he has a lifetime more experience. This is a man who has earned his chance, which makes some of the negativity I have read after one game in charge pretty embarrassing"

The rest of the English media have been so biased and unfair. My respect levels for Carragher just went up even more 👍.

Agree2 Disagree0

I can’t stand the spitting scouser but to be honest I’m not a fan of many if any pundits.

29 Jan 2021 19:56:18
Looking forward to Sunday shak, tough game they seem to be in really good form, but I haven't been this excited about Chelsea since conte first year
Carragher does tend to speak his mind which I like, Craig burley on espn fc is good as well very funny guy.

I love Carra he’s a fantastic pundit.

Same here Gola, I'm really looking forward to the game. Very excited to see sutle changes under Tuchel at this stage. With time, I am positive we will be a top side again and one that other teams will fear.

Hope your doing well during these cv times mate. Keep safe 🙏.

Carragher has no time for Chelsea. He is loving this sacking and state of flux at the club mid season. As are the rest of the top 6. Imo Carragher contradicts himself in his comments. Carragher states that TT is vastly experienced etc etc, not untrue. However imo TT has not watched one Chelsea game this season. He didn’t pick arguably Chelsea’s best player Mount and never put him on till 78 minutes, despite watching a one paced training possession training session. He selected Rudiger and Jorginho. First one is poor in both boxes as opposed to Zouma who can defend and score m, and Jorginho, well where does one start, he is the poorest midfielder in the PL. by a mile. He never selected Abraham on the back of a hat trick, and he never selected Werner. He had Alonso and Emerson on the bench. The performance duly followed it was hellish and 2 points were dropped . This week Chelsea’s top 4 rivals were dropping points right left and centre. I thought TT honeymooned, I did not think he approached the game with any due competitiveness or indeed diligence. It was poor and it was shabby. He said it was the unfairest selection he had ever selected. Why? Take 5 or 6 hours out of the 72 hours you had on appointment and watch Chelsea games from the last 8 weeks. With regard to who might be to blame for not making top 4, easy the board have a huge hand in this situation. If you are going to scrutinise the coaches which is your right let’s see how many points TT collects compared to Lamps.

He is a pundit who is paid to have an opinion when IMO he hasn’t got one of any note.

I think it would be refreshing but unrealistic that when he or any pundit was asked about a football matter, they just answered, I haven’t got a scooby doo!

I’ve never understood why playing professional football is a qualification as a pundit. There have been lots of managers who haven’t played football at a top level who are excellent managers.

I say give a punditry job to fairly articulate football supporter and he or she could well do a good job.

One of the only pundits I’ve got time for is Gary Neville he admitted on air that he he wasn’t up to it to be a coach after his short sorte in Spain. Leaving aside TT, the reality is that Frank didn’t have the experience to take on the job at Chelsea; it came far to soon for him.

29 Jan 2021 23:45:25
Mmm Zouma can defend? He is okay defending crosses sometimes but otherwise he is very poor: no positional sense, slow and weak on one-to-one and ponderous playing out of defence. Abraham scored a hat trick against Luton- I’m afraid that is is level- no such achievements against top teams or in important games. TT was right not to start them.

Carragher, spitting aside, is a decent pundit. Called it pretty early about Lampard not having the well of experience to fall back on when things were going wrong. Completely right about the media's negativity to the Wolves game being embarrassing too. I have to disagree with you Tom, I want a pundit to be someone who knows the pressures of Premier League football, knows what it's like to cross the chalk. Unfortunately most forget that they're their because they were footballers, not because they're celebrities. Micah Richards has been a breath of fresh air in recent times.

I'm excited about us under Tuchel, and a large percentage of the fan base seems to have taken to him. It great that the truth came out re Rudiger and the other players, with some of the more prominent "reporters" of those stories taking veiled steps back away from them.

Unfortunately some fans are going to struggle to take the emotion out of the decision to sack Lampard, and the only way to win them over will be with immediate success, hopefully starting Vs Burnley.

Spot on Stephen.

I was and am against the sack because it just shows that there is no right sense behind it. You want to win it all in a few months? Let me tell you that it won't happen, not in England and not in Europe.

Let's see how TT handles things and what he does, but for me, Lampard's sacking is not about emotion and sentiment, it's about doing the wrong thing at the wrong time and destroying a promise that would have been.

#, p, shake the British media are petty and so biased. they couldn't find any reason to scrutinize Frank whi after splashing an unprecedented amount in the market yet he couldn't find his to play The nor know his best squad. leaving the most disorganized team very low in confidence. Always try to shield their own but quick to pieceup deceitful stats to pile pressure on others. tirres readily comes to mind . you will never remember John stones went for not than Werner and even Torres bnot minding Harry maiguire . It hurts them during other nationallies thriving in the EPL especially when n their over hyped average players struggle . you would certainly know a goal is scored by the English player by the screamby even commentators. my friend once til me thdebate of the greatest player would have been over were any of Messi or Ronaldo were british. hate when you give undue recognition is given by sentiments. if an English is sold djust divide the figure by 2 and be sure that's the value of the player. rice was almost bought for 80nilliijust because he's English and some of us with the English tinted glasses were vehemently campaigning for it even at the expense of kante. frank must stack up as one of the worst coaches during RA erabut instead they are looking for TT to slip up so they can shout how stupid the idea of sacking Frank was even when it's clear we were on the reverse gear with Frank and find
N o it convenient to lean on the legend stuff.

Ilo, I have never thought any decision by the club has been based on nationality.

I think it’s only reasonable that England fans would have an interest in how the English players in their side perform. I’m also sure this would be the same for a Scots fan being interested in how BG is performing. Any fan of our club who has a player in our side of the same nationality would be extra interested in that particular player.

Our written press IMO are a general disgrace but the majority of them produce articles for British newspapers so they are biased towards, as they see it, the majority of people who buy or subscribe to those newspapers. My guess is this is the same in most countries.

English clubs buy English players for lots of different reasons and some of those reasons probably account for a premium. Also the stock of quality English players isn’t what it was, so again there is a premium.

My guess is no club or fan gives a flying fig about a players nationality.

Ilo best post in a long time mate.

30 Jan 2021 10:28:47
@Stephen60 - give it a rest, mate. How can you criticise TT after just 1 match?! If my memory serves me right, your beloved Frank got slaughtered in his his 1st game in charge away at Man U and he had had far more time on the training pitch.

If you are a true supporter, get behind TT and the team .

30 Jan 2021 11:05:18
Ilo as always I have respect for your posts mate.

MDW your wasting your time with @Stephen. There are some fans out there like him who are just praying for TT to fail so they can start their ridiculous Frank sacking BS again. Frank won't be the manager of #CFC again, the quicker you move on with life the better. Jeez.

30 Jan 2021 11:06:57
All the Carragher talk is medicine after death; we all saw Lampard’s ability and weakness and the good job that he did at Chelsea; personally, I strongly think Lampard can be one of the best managers in world football but there are areas he needs to improve on and there other things he needs to learn as a manager. I think if he can spend some time with Klopp or Guardiola, it would do him (Lampard) a lot of good.

For now, I can only say that a like bit of time will tell if the sacking of Lampard and hiring of Tuchel was a good decision, but from what I saw in the Wolves game, I think he hiring of Tuchel is a good decision.

30 Jan 2021 16:04:59
Obinna, I love your phrase “medicine after death”. I hope you don’t mind if I use it on occasions?
