The question of whether some of these boys can do it on a cold night in Barnsley has been answered!

Oh well, through to the next round with a favourable draw.

Very true “J”.

Spot on J very few of them fancied it. But we are through and decent chance of getting to semis again.

Thanks Tom "B".

I think a lot of the performance (lack of) boils down to the Barnsley players really wanting to play the game, whilst some of ours seemed to see it as a cold inconvenience.

On another note, comments about Tammy Abraham not being good enough.

Surely last night was exactly the sort of game we need a less refined poacher of a striker? He also did the hard graft at defensive set pieces.

I find it a bit odd that criticism seems to come his way after poor team performances, especially where he's often nicked a scrappy winning goal.

Fully agreed J. Went to the next round but this performance should worry all of them.

About the criticism; I do not understand it one bit and it's the case with all of our academy boys which came to our rescue yet again.

I just think the likes of Ziyech are going to find it very hard to knock on the managers door and ask why they're not starting.

Quite right about Tammy he looked up for the scrap in a way many - including Ziyech, Pulisic, Alonso and Emerson - did not. In fact it has often been our youth who have shown greatest commitment.

Correct Ashk, YA players came through. Once again the performance had traits of Sarriball, however Ziyech and Pulisic were wretched, Alonso and Emerson were timid, so in fairness getting any successful possession in the last third had to go through CHO. Anybody notice it was 14 minutes on the clock and Chelsea hadn’t crossed the halfway line? This morning’s “Gossip” has potential swap deal Eriksen for Jorginho? AC and Juve monitoring Ziyech? I’ve got everything crossed that both of these things happen. Not fussed for Eriksen just want rid of Jorginho, cash would be better. But C.V. and all that.

Jorginho's been good under TT, probably been our best midfielder in the double 6. I've by no means been his biggest supporter, but credit where credit is due. I also have big question marks over Ziyech, but it's not been the most stable first season for him.

A lot of complaints about a lack of goals under TT, but an opponent hasn't scored a goal against us under him yet (just Rudiger) . There's an argument that he's started off by making us tighter at the back, and building from there. That seems to have been lost in some quarters.

All fair and well made points J. But it's not as if our opponents haven't be able to create chances and very good ones. It's just that recently they haven't taken them. Such small margins in football, and let's face it we were lucky last night as we were against Sheffield and Spurs towards the end of those two games. Luck has been on our side in those moments, and long may this luck stay with us, but my doctor would like for my sake for CFC to rely on it less both by preventing those chances and scoring more.
