Not sure how many minutes Havertz has had under TT but I would hope he would improve otherwise he would be a complete dud.

You could add Kepa to the list of improvers. I don’t think Tammy has improved.

Pusilic and Ziyech are out of form but both have had injury issues.

{Ed002's Note - Havertz is injured..}

16 Feb 2021 11:10:17
It's the reason we are winning matches again.
Tammy and Mason are on a par with the last regime Jorghino looks a different player, Havertz has been injured for weeks as Ed002 says.
Ziyech looks out of his depth Pulisic is the real puzzle and one we need to solve.

16 Feb 2021 11:41:39
Nathswindon; do you question Jorginho’s improvement under TT? I don’t quite agree with you on that.

16 Feb 2021 11:51:01
Rudi- jury is still out. Next 4 games would tell more about him.
Azpi, Alonso &jorgi - struggles against pace which has been their problem earlier as well. Alonso still pops in with goals which is good but doesn't mask his issues.
Others bar havertz I agree on as improved since lamps.

Chilly, pulisic form has been a concern for sometime. Ziyech and kante are back from injuries and are yet to find their feet. Zouma is a bit of a surprise. I didn't see any larger concerns when he played. May be a victim of the new formation.

Havertz is injured for those that are not aware!

16 Feb 2021 12:03:19
How many minutes has he played under TT?

16 Feb 2021 12:12:06
Zouma - Chilwell - hasn't been given a chance under TT . can't JUDGE.

Pulisic is a quality player he will come good. Still young. when he gets into some sort of rhythm he gets injured, which doesn't help.

Ziyech- for is the one that needs support- he stroll around the pitch like he doesn't care. Could be an attitude issue but not sure. Looks lost. Some people would say the same about Havertz but for me Havertz at least tracks back and puts effort into the game making a few good defensive tackles, where as Ziyech doesn't. Also playing this formation we may have to many false 9 or number 10s.

Kante - TT loves him but he has come back from an injury and JORGINHO AND KOVA have been playing well so hard to put back in at the moment. not saying I wouldn't want him too over JORGINHO.

This is a diffiult one because again I'm struck by how short our collective memories are. The point -as you rightly say Strasbourg - is we are winning 'again'.

The thing is that we beat top teams last season, got a top 4 place and got to an FA Cup Final. Earlier this season we had a run of 16 or was it 17 games without defeat (so we still have a way to go with this latest run to match that), and we moved to the top of the league. In that period many in the team were playing well, and we know how good Kova was for much of last season, he was our player of the season of course!

Werner played extremely well for quite a few games at start of the season, with goals and assists. Then came the string of poor results. So I would say that it's not so much that TT has improved players - most had shown they were good last season, or earlier in this one - but that he has restored their confidence and overall team/ squad morale again by putting another winning/ undefeated string of results together. Would make an exception in case of CHO who has improved under TT by getting extended game time. But likes of Dave, or even Rudi and AC (in patches! ) had been good before, and Rudi has had a few wobbles under TT of course.

TT must be credited though for results he has achieved by changing back to a back 3, tightening our defense, and having trust in out of favour players - for much of this season before he arrived - like Alonso and Rudiger. And getting then players to believe in what he is doing and getting results, this is tricky in the EPL as we know all too well even when against largely weak opposition. Long may it last.
But like Tom and am sure many others on here, I've been around the block enough times as a CFC fan over many years to know that confidence can be a fragile thing, that teams often go through cycles of good runs and poor ones as we we have this season. Blimey so many teams have this season!

And so while hoping for the best I am warning myself not to be too carried away. yet!

But for now I am delighted and excited that we/ TT are getting good results, - again, long may this last! - but there are much tougher challenges ahead in teams we will be up against and we still need to improve a great deal in fluency and craetion of chances - and taking them as TT has openly said. KTBFFH!

That’s my point Ed.

I agree with that summary Nath, Havertz has been injured but I'm sure he will improve us going forward. Kante will play in the bigger games to give us more protection. Werner is looking really sharp and think he is getting his confidence back. James will play in the bigger games as well. Mount and CHO need to add more goals to their games and Pulisic will come in at some point. Kovacic has been a revelation and if he can add goals will be awesome. For me the player who doesn't fit at present is Ziech, but Tuchel is a top coach and will no doubt have a plan for him as well. I think the future looks bright with the talented squad we have plus the young players coming through being coached by a very experienced, articulate young manager. I think we have a chance to challenge at the top table again going forward.

Wheely and JBS, very enjoyable posts lads.

16 Feb 2021 14:28:58
I hope so G8.

16 Feb 2021 14:53:16
Good discussion.

I know Havertz was a dodgy call, but he did look more free in the minutes he had.

Regardless of the reasons, certain players (Azpi, Rudi) have improved (personally I think that the system change suits them) .

I remain worried about Zyech but I think Chilwell will adapt (he's a good player) and I think Puli is being protected, as he looks imbalanced physically and I suspect they are trying to correct this long term (I'm qualified to make a judgement on this) .

16 Feb 2021 15:07:39
Great response JBS, I agree with all of it.

One thing that is helping TT in this favourable run of games is that he is playing to get results, nothing more and nothing less. It's not about improving anyone in the middle of the season, cementing a certain kind of style of play and promoting academy players into the team. He wants to get a top 4 finish and he is doing that. I am ok with that and as I have said many times, you can't really judge him that much, even if he doesn't get top 4.

P. S: really guys? Rudi improving? 😅 You don't remember his recent OG?

16 Feb 2021 15:45:31
Ash Rudi has been vastly more disciplined and decisive regardless of that goal.

TBF he was very poor prior to this.

I do agree that there's been an easy run. But players have improved.

16 Feb 2021 16:12:36
Very slightly Nathswindon. The thing is we haven't really played against an attacking team that puts pressure on us, none of them really done much.

Another point I want to make is that we are 2nd in terms of shots on target against us. So we weren't terrible defensively before and there haven't been good tests to measure any kind of significant improvement.

16 Feb 2021 16:56:04
Ash good points.

However, watching the games we appear to have more control in midfield as well as looking more dangerous.

We shall see of course and whilst I thought we should have stuck with Super Frank I'm confident that TT is doing a good job.

16 Feb 2021 17:37:48
I want to get good results as well Nath and TT is doing just that.
