Kante and Kovacic are never a good pair in the central midfield and I think Kante is to blame; Jorginho and Kovacic is our best pair at the moment. Zouma too didn’t help issues, we would have been better off with Christensen.
The transition of our attack in recent times comes from Kovacic’s driving runs and he (Kovacic) was quiet today cos Kante wasn’t interchanging passes properly with him. Kante has to re-adapt to playing as a double six, I think if TT started this game with Jorginho and Kovacic in the double six (pivot) , we would have won very easily.

Kant had a very good first 45 mins. He wasn’t as effective in the second half but he never stopped working.

Kante was brilliant. Never stopped. They have never had a decent run of games together. yet again. one game not gd and again its crap (pair)

our problems today were at wingback and upfront and slow play getting the ball out of defence- thought kante had a really solid game and kova was decent tbh
werner and tammy didn't help with creating chances and alonso was poor imo considering.

Spot on bluekaz was crying out for OG on at half time and Chilwell for Alonso ten mins to 2nd half at latest but James not great on the rt either.

It’s not about Kante’s individual stats (which are clearly defensive stats), it’s about his team play with another player (Kovacic) that makes the team better in attack and more stable in possession. I think there’s a good reason why TT have been leaving him (Kante) out for Jorginho in the other games that we have been winning, and I clearly saw why today.
Besides If he’s got all the interceptions, tackles and recoveries, it clearly tells you that he (Kante) is not controlling the ball which is what you need to score more against a relatively lower team like Southampton.

I think if the main reasons Kante hasn’t played is because they wanted to make sure he is fully recovered from the injury issues he has had.

i think youve misunderstood kantes role obinna. he wins the ball back and lays it off to others and today he did that very well.

i would play kante and j5 as the two in mid as don't think kova has the passing of jorginho.

Also you cannot fault Kante once he got the ball to the attackers whether wing backs or Tammy or Timo, - which he did so many times especially in the first half - if they then did nothing or next to nothing with it. The only really goid chance we had was that header from Zouma.
