Just saw the news on Chilwell. It’s funny cause when I saw him stretching for the ball to win it back I thought to my self how the lads should take it easy cause we were already 3 up and then a second later Chilly is rolling in agony. I am gutted, absolutely gutted.
Tbh I always feel like I have a good understanding of the game and I have a good eye to spot top players and talents alike, but I was one of a few that was against the club signing Chilwell and I’m happy to have been proven wrong! He’s now one of my favorite players in the team and honestly I’m quite devastated by this news. Hearing he could be out for the season. I hope that’s not the case.

Right there with you, Eli. Hoping he doesn't need surgery on it, but if he does fingers crossed he recovers well.
It's a big shame for the team and Tuchel as well. The attack finally seemed to be clicking a bit, and Alonso simply doesn't have the dynamism to give us what Chilwell gives us there.

I think Chelsea has to start scouting for another LB/ LWB from January to replace Alonso (if Emerson won’t return to the club in the summer) cos I think Alonso can’t take us to Eldorado.

Gutted is an understatement. Chilly for me is one of our most influential players and he brings out the best in our attacking players too. Personally think he’s the best LB in the prem at the moment with Robertson not playing his best this season and Shaw being incredibly overrated. Not a fan of Alonso despite his goal scoring record as he changes the way we attack. Would much rather have Emerson back but that’s not going to happen.

A bad injury in a very busy time of the season. It would be a huge miss if we lose Chilly for the season.
Hopefully he will have a fast recovery.
Anyway, I think we might need a new left back for the rest of the season. I don't think we can recall Emerson and Alonso can't play all the time.

Shame how some don't rate alonso. both of the lwb is good depending on the opposition. Alonso is better on the ball and a deadbolt specialist. Better in possession. Chilwell has a better pace and recovery but I wouldn't mind alonso against united.

Talking about the upcoming Manchester United’s game, Zealot; I would prefer Azpilicueta (played as our LB/ LWB ) to Alonso.

Like Eli I wasn’t convinced when Chelsea signed Chilwell but I was wrong he is a top class player . It wil be interesting to see what TT does about the situation. Initially, I suppose Dave and Alonso can alternate in the position. I was surprised to read the Saul had played at wing back; it’s a shame we don’t appear to have an academy player knocking on the door ( for the bench) .

From an academy perspective, the left side is a slight issue…Livramento could fill in there but he’s gone and a player I liked, Illing Jr. went off to Juventus…ho hum.
If we face teams with pace down the right, Azpilicueta would be my pick, alternatively you play Alonso and effectively get Rudiger to be more aggressive in defending higher up with the central defender covering…for that reason I can see Christensen playing a big part in the coming games. For games when we dominate possession I think we’ll be fine. It’s the New Year games against Liverpool and Manchester City that have me worried.

If Chilly needs an operation he will be out for most if not all the season. We may need to dip into the transfer market in January, I’m not sure who would be available.

If this was Klopp he’d be moaning and making excuses about the amount of injuries. If you’re a top club you have to cope with these situations; no excuses.

Agree with you Tom, I think Saul could be the answer, intelligent, and I'm sure he'd like minutes, whatever position he plays, Alonso needs to be back in Italy where he can just attack without having to worry about defending. Maatsen, after this season will be back and providing back up for chillwell, my worry is who will provide back up for James next year.
