Dest now being reported as our first choice signing for the wingback / wide midfield role. I suspect he was one of our main targets for the summer to serve as a rotational option for both right and left, but this has now potentially been brought forward due to injuries. In his large breakdown ed described the fee Barcelona were after as (I think) eye watering. I can't imagine our injuries and the fact it's January will make it any less eye watering. As they all are, this will be a difficult deal to pull off.

I’ve asked what his like as don’t know anything, I had a quick look and his progression with the ball was very high, but his assists / chances created was very very underwhelming, but also that was played RB, and that was last season, not sure about this season,

Good player, though my only concern about Dest is that I think he’s vertically impaired.

I think there’s a reason Barcelona are willing to sell he’s poor defensively too. I’d go for Maehle of Atalanta if I had the choice.

He's defensive ability is a concern Bruce, but less so in our system than Barcelona's. I'm a big fan of Maehle, impressed pretty much every time I see him play.

Is Dwight O’Neil of Burnley left or right wingback, saw his name talked about on other pages, good player knows the league, and is it Robinson at Fulham, was really good v us last season until sent off lol.

Dest has only recently gobe to Barcelona, so surely odds against him coming to CFC in this window at least, or even in the summer unless for eye watering sum that we may not be willing to pay?
We could obviously really do with wingback cover right now though.
Ed002 have a v informative response to TomB re this on 1 Jan, and hopefully am summarising right: Ed persuasively suggested that likes of Theo H or Digne may not want to come (as Alonso replacemen) cos when Ben C recovered could be playing second fiddle to him and wouldn't want to.
So I guess my question would be if there is any update on possibility of Emerson being recalled from Lyons (or Rahman from Reading), or whether CFC looking to get by now using talent within existing player pool?
