Rudiger definitely player of the year already.

Agree0 Disagree0

Certainly having a good season and deserves all the plaudits but I’m going to hold fire on my choice for POS.

I have a feeling that Kovacic could be a contender come the end of the season.

12 Jan 2022 23:41:36
Totally agree kovavcic is so underrated.

12 Jan 2022 23:52:35
Rudiger is just having a phenomenal season thus far, his been utterly world class under Tuchel. Always was a brilliant player, just had a bad patch previously like many players do.

We’re a lot better with kov, I wouldn’t say dangerous, we didn’t really create much tonight, we’re comfortable for majority and that’s kov winning it and able to beat the press and pass, lot of sideways passing. Lukaku chance and Werner half chance, apart from that little chances, imo.

I agree. Kovacic and Rudiger are standing out. Kante and Silva are possible shouts for PoTY.

Kovavic haven't played enough games to be player of the season for me just yet.

13 Jan 2022 12:12:14
I think James should get a mention here too. He is amazing not quite poty yet but my god is he some player.

13 Jan 2022 18:01:05
Imo it when unreasonable not to renew contract for rudigar. Its almost impossible to get a player capable of replicating his performances for us at the moment without paying over the odd in both transfer fees and wages as he demanded. He's very inspirational too to the team. I would look for a compromise for him to stay. denningtonbear no James hasn't done more to be considered for the poty.

Blueblood, can I just clarify is it unreasonable for the club not renew Rudiger’s contract? Or, is it unreasonable for Rudiger not to renew his contract with club?

I hope the two questions make sense.

13 Jan 2022 19:11:13
It is not unreasonable for Rudiger to refuse to sign a new contract nor is it unreasonable for the club to refuse his demands. This is a matter between the player and the club: we do not know the position of either party.

13 Jan 2022 20:09:07
Exactly Jimbo. The club can only make what it considers to be an appropriate offer after that it’s up to the player.

If the player isn’t happy with the clubs offer he can’t be forced to sign and that is his prerogative.

Things can change very quickly in these contract negotiations.

I have no reason to disbelieve my mate who told me that we had virtually agreed contract terms with Christensen and then all of a sudden it was not agreed. He now looks the more likely now leave.

I would like them both to sign but if either or both don’t, so be it.
