The difference in passing and ball retention in city's attackers compared to ours is unreal.

Ziyech, Pulisic, Lukaku and CHO all proved not good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

CHO has been on the pitch for a few minutes can't blame him.

However we were poor going forward . we was brave enough.

wasn't *.

CHO was infinitely better than Ziyech or Pusilic but that’s not a very high bar on that performance.

Lukaku got no service from a team performance with very little passing vision today.

Our attack has been constantly weaker than our defense or when kova or kante fit and against, and v ost teams- our midfield. It is no disgrace to. lose to City of course, they will surely win the EPL this season by some distance. We clearly also miss our two first choice wingbacks greatly. But a long standing problem has been our largely hugely under-performing forwards with so few goals between them over more than a season and a half now. TT has not fixed this, still not sure perhaps of best combinations, perhaps also missing a player who can get 20 goals a season in EPL though we thought we were getting that with RL.

Oh well my own expectations of this game after playing midweek plus fact it was City away were low. But I had some hope we could at least get a draw. We didn't, and time to move on and pick up wins in next EPL games, crucially 3 points v Spurs at the Bridge.

What’s gutting is that money we’ve spent and we aren’t even giving them a title fight, so far behind in January, but embarrassing really,

City were better. We missed our chance.

Whoever approved Lukaku signing should be sacked. Worst business in the recent past. The attacking formation was shocking. Would have been different with kai Warner leading the attack.
Tt undermining his brilliance by his attacking formation, seems to only mprove defensive player but not attackers. Lukaku is a misfit and the earlier he's sold the better for us. doesn't have the mentality to lead our lines. we don't need his kind of striker. Worst first touch and technical for a striker in the world. Worst I have seen kante with Chelsea. TT lost the plot today especially on the attack.

On the flip side TomB, Lukaku did not work those CBs at all, I don't recall him winning a single header today, could be wrong, just heard TT hammering him a little about his ball loses and chances missed.

We approached the game all wrong again today for me, too much respect to City again just like at the Bridge. Perhaps TT thought with personnel available we couldn't compete in a different way. City are so well drilled though and I would hate to play against them!

I’m gutted with performance and how tame we were all over the pitch.

That wasn’t the performance I expected from us.

{Ed014's Note - at least we gave them game, you just rolled over Tom

Ed after the gooner game against them last week I thought it was obvious how we should set up and play against them.

I didn’t want us to sign Lukaku but I’m puzzled why we haven’t played to his strengths.

Also Blue I take your point about Lukaku not working defenders. It’s never been his strong point and although his fist thick may have improved slightly his hold up play has always been questionable. We knew all these things (I hope) when we signed him.

I agree with a lot of what you all have been saying. We have lost to City which in itself isn’t a disaster but it’s the way we lost and our results and performances over recent weeks which is disappointing . As I said earlier I thought it was the wrong team and wrong tactics today. I agree with what has been said by posters about certain players, however, we are stuck with them until at least the summer. Most if not, all the players have had plenty of game time and TT has had a year to assess the squad. Accepting, C.V. and a busy schedule we are still no nearer working out our best 11, I acknowledge there has to be rotation but I would have thought today we would field our strongest team. Leaving aside cups, our focus now must be top 4.

Putting aside our home performance against the
Spuds and a period in the Liverpool game Jimbo I agree, our performances have been average and broadly dull.
