We really were the best team in both games and yet individual mistakes did us in.

I think the take away for us should be that we are a far better team with 4 defenders, which allows us to play a more attacking game.

Werner is such an important player for us, even though he is not scoring much. I think we should absolutely hold on to him.

Another take away for me is.

Agree0 Disagree0

100% finally a bit of sense.
however I think playing 342 suits Werner and he will continue to score. Everyone was saying Havertz wasn't good enough but even time/ run of games and a bit of confidence from the manager he has come good.
This is a learning curve, first half and few individual mistakes cost us. its football.
However the way we played yesterday giving it a go we should be proud of that.

Agree on all counts. Was very proud of the lads.

Havertz was always the player of quality most of us thought we were getting, but he took a bit of time to adapt to EPL games physicality, and Werner has struggled with this too, plus then Kai got C.V. that knocked him back for some time. But he is world class and with the big match temperament that goes with this.

Question is still whether he and Werner can forge a partnership up front that would get us enough goals to challenge LFC and Man City for EPL title. Or do we still need another more prolific striker, something we though we had got with Lukaku but who has disappointed? And why has Lukaku disappointed? Either cos we aren't playing to his strengths, or because he has been carrying injuries for much of the season/ isn't fit enough, or he just isn't right for the kind of high pressing Barcelona-of-old or City/ LFC today game TT wants us to play and we probably need to play if going with 4 at the back.

Wheely, if we play 342 if will be hard for us to win many games!

Nice post JBS.

I personally think the partnership of Havertz and Werner won't be getting 40+ goals a season, especially if we play with wing backs and 3 at the back but it's a unique combination that would give us an edge in some important games.
All in all, I think we should give Werner another season and just add Broja.
With the right support and a good strategy/ formation, we could compete for the league title. Our problem in my opinion is our midfield which needs a bit of a rehaul.
