This will be my last post on the matter as I understand it may become tiresome for me but the mistakes regarding our younger players and returning loanees needs to finish this summer under new management. I will forever be thankful to roman and even marina but it's time for change and the mistakes to end.
Firstly, defence. We will now lose rudiger and Christensen for nothing, while selling capable players for peanuts. Guehi and Tomori were sold for peanuts, and now we will sign centre backs in the summer for 40 million and 200k a week. We are spending a massive amount of money where we could have had it sorted for zilch.
Wingbacks. Our season has derailed because we didn't have suitable backup to chillwell and James. A rookie mistake. Alonso and azpi, while serviceable players, are NEVER going to be able to replace what they offered. They're slow, and can not bring the ball up. One of our major failings in the January window. Spending all summer trying to buy our own player back from loan looked pathetic.
Midfield, we've let kante and jorginhos contracts run down too, so i expect we will sell one or both this summer, at a low price. I would sell whatever one we can get 40 million for, and use that to sign rice. He will be a starter for a decade. Much better that than sign drinkwaters and bakayokos for 40 million a pop, only to sell for nothing. Furthermore, Gallagher must stay with the team. Must.
Forwards. Selling Abraham has, predictably, turned into another mistake. We will need investment in this area and the investment must be smart and calculated. I would have bought Sancho last year but unfortunately he ended up at united. Not sure who we can sign, but I'd keep lukaku and pair him with another forward. Change formation and try play to his strengths. Otherwise, try sell him and get role players in exchange if the buying team cannot afford.
Made simple, I'd sign Rice, bring back livramento, and sign another fullback who's pacey and can overlap. Gallagher must be integrated, and another forward brought in. Calvert Lewin from everton may deserve a look in, if they get relegated.
Onto next season. Goodluck to the lads for the rest of the season I'll be supporting every game.

Standard, I can understand your frustrations some of which I agree with.
I did not want the club to sell some of the players you mentioned but we have had a history under Roman of not keeping unhappy players.
I know you as a passionate supporter of our club and your anger for me just demonstrates that passion.
Who knows what the future of our club will be under new ownership. We have had wonderful times and fantastic memories under Romans ownership and we can only hope that the coming years will be equally successful.

True Tom. Guehi and livramento left because there's not much of a pathway into the first team (though that's changed recently, as we were forced too under transfer ban), though, I think we could have integrated both into the team and got them game time over Christensen. Tomori too.
I've been thinking. My picks would also be tarkowski on a free, and tielemans, who wants ucl football and has an expiring contract.
We're down to bare bones in defence so tarkowski and colwill implemented, Gallagher, tielemans and possibly rice (otherwise next summer) and a forward would be a brilliant window.

Also to add. I'm well aware we are very little in the know and are missing a lot of the facts. But I still think observations should be allowed. Im also maybe wrong, and don't want to be negative so I apologise if this post is taken that way. We all love the club.

Your observations are in my opinion all very reasonable Standard and we all generally have different opinions about our club, managers and players. That’s what makes football so interesting.
We are all generally trying to make educated guesses Standard. Some of our questions would have been given some more colour if a few of our posters had shown some respect to the Ed’s.
Not long ago I was led to believe that Christensen had a verbal agreement with the club to extend his contract. I put that information, in good faith, on the site and when it seemed that this wasn’t the case or maybe the player just changed his mind, I got pelters for it. I don’t envy the Eds for the abuse they must consistently get.

Good post Standard. I agree with most of what you say.
I think we had a vision under Lamps for a rehaul which got ditched right in the middle of it because we were losing for a bit.
I totally agree that our style of managing our squad should change. Perhaps a good football director is needed.

TBH I’ve never really understood what a DOF does and what exactly does Cech do as Technical Director?
