A front 3 of Richarlison, Sterling and Rafiniha looks really good, at least on paper. Add Kai and Broja to the mix and we would have a pacey and skillful attack.

I'm not sold on that to be honest. Would happily welcome Sterling and Raphinha though, would be an upgrade on what we currently have. I just can't see Richarlison being the solution up top. Maybe hang on to Werner until the right person is available?

23 Jun 2022 18:36:31
Richarlison has the character we haven't had since Diego Costa was our main ST. Maybe he is not a superstar but he can be effective and he is versatile. I think we can get him for the right price. We will certainly be an upgrade compared to what we have.

No thanks to that bunch of want aways up front: totally unbalanced: they would be begging each other for the ball to no avail. Sell one of wide players: get a proper striker, midfielder, two CBs: decide what to to do about cover for James and Chilwell and if there is any money left bring in a keeper to challenge Mendy.

23 Jun 2022 18:39:21
I like Richarlison, seems hungry, good link up and works his socks off.

23 Jun 2022 19:28:00
Richarlison is not a striker: he as scored 17 goals in the last two seasons: I’m not sure why we are being linked with so many wide players when there are other areas that need strengthening. Richarlison is hungry- to double his wages!

23 Jun 2022 20:07:03
prob still more than our wingers.

23 Jun 2022 20:27:55
I think it’s likely that two of our so called three wide players may well end up leaving.

23 Jun 2022 21:14:37
Good shout Ash, all 3 would fit well with what TT is all about. As fans we need to understand the profile of player TT wants and all 3 fit the system he deploys. I think at least 1 of those 3 will join, maybe 2.

23 Jun 2022 22:12:52
What system is that then? It’s passed me by.

24 Jun 2022 08:28:01
I agree G8.

Jimbo he wants to have quick attacking players which can switch their position and are comfortable with moving around. That's why Lukaku didn't work out.
I know that we have been slow, sometimes painfully slow and obvious, but I believe with a different set of midfielders and attackers, we will see a very different TT team.
I'd personally allow Pulisic, CHO, Hakim and even Werner to leave. Broja, Kai and Richarlison (if he joins) are good enough to lead the line. Add two direct, attacking minded wide player like Sterling and Rafiniha, and I think we will have a very dangerous attacking line.

24 Jun 2022 08:53:15
Ashk, it sounds good but it looks like we are trying to emulate Liverpool’s front three but we still don’t have anyone who will score 20 goals. Our midfield is very slow and we have a keeper whose distribution is woeful. We do need to get rid of players, personally I would keep Pulisic.

24 Jun 2022 15:58:37
I think there is a plan to fundamentally reshape the team. I agree that we need to add players in every position and remove lots of players. It will be done in 4 windows perhaps.

24 Jun 2022 18:01:32
Ashk, you may be right but the question is: will TT get four windows? RA sacked coaches more on an emotional level for their failures, the new board will do so for financial reasons i. e not qualifying for the CL. TT has to make his mark next season by showing a consistent style of play and making up some ground on City and Liverpool: I’m not suggesting a serious challenge for the title but improvement on the mush mash of football we played last season.

24 Jun 2022 20:17:38
You are right AshK, it will take time and TT will be given it. We have moved on from Roman and Todd has already made a huge statement in backing the manager over the player with Lukaku. That would not have happened before. I think 3 windows will see what TT is all about, his philosophy is clear for all to see, just need the right pegs in the right holes which he has not had.
Sterling, De ligt, Kounde are all examples of the right player profile he needs to fit his style of play. A Jorghi type with pace and power will allow the switch to a back 4. Ampadu could be an answer but is he ready just yet? If he stays we probably go 3 at the back again.
Looking forward to seeing it all unfold.

I agree G8. There is no better coach available at the moment and we have to learn from the past and not be so trigger happy with managers.

By the way, recent rumours suggesting we are back in for Rice? Not sure if it's true but I really want it to happen.

{Ed0666's Note - You’re right mate there’s not many decent coaches available hardly any to be honest. Poch is not the standard you want and others come to mind like Favre and Setien aren’t outstanding either (I’m
Not sure if they are employed right now anyway) if I were chelsea I’d give Tuchel one more season and go and get Gallardo from River Plate before someone like Madrid or a national side get him. He seemingly can do no wrong and is a massive talent who doesn’t suffer fools. He instills a work ethic and more importantly a team ethic. Failing that there’s Rafa or Big Sam!

25 Jun 2022 09:36:04
I wasn’t suggesting that there is a better coach available but I doubt TT will be given the time Klopp was. The new owners want success and a mediocre season without a top 4 finish would quite rightly be deemed a failure. I presume we will sign 4 or 5 players that TT wants and let go a few he doesn’t. Leaving aside who comes and goes the truth is we have a very talented squad and must do better. Towards the end of last season TT was making the cliché excuses for poor performances. Ed, I have heard of that chap Gallardo but I suspect if he did decide to try his hand elsewhere it would be the usual suspects in Spain.

{Ed0666's Note - I think he was nailed on for Barca until they appointed Xavi. Maybe Madrid next season? Regards Tuchel he’s extremely fair weather blows hot and cold. He’s deffo under pressure.
