All coming together now in time for pre-season training.
Nathan Ake is an exellent addition, can cover left back as well and will not block Levi Colwill's pathway.
De Ligt will enable us to play out from the back with comfort, Sterling is proven in the premier league, scores goals, creates, works hard, a great signing.
Conor G will add midfield goals and competition.
Exellent window being put together.

Who’s scoring goals?

28 Jun 2022 09:23:33
G8, like you I can understand the logic of getting Ake back. Wouldn’t have been my choice but ho hum!

My guess is with Werner and Lukaku both leaving we will be signing a goalscorer sooner rather than later.

Also, given the inability of either Werner or Lukaku to control the ball with there first touch, whoever we got would have to be an upgrade!

28 Jun 2022 09:34:18
Looks like we have made Dembele an offer as well and he will now choose between us and staying at Barca.
Ake is a very clever signing Tom.
Sterling averages a goal every 2 games from wide areas in the PL over the last 5 seasons so he will get goals, Havertz is getting better and better and the goals will come as well, same with Mount. Like you Tom, I do think we will add forward but it is taking shape.
What I like is the fact that TT is putting together his squad.

28 Jun 2022 10:33:41
Trying to improve by signing players we’ve let go twice? Trying to catch up with city and sign a player who doesn’t play unless injuries and gets hooked for zinchenko. At least sterling starts for city, it’s hard to compare but surely colwill deserves a a go instead of ake, least this way LC will see a path into chelsea and not leave like lampety maatsen etc,

28 Jun 2022 10:43:57
Not sure if you noticed Matt but last season we played a lot of games, had injuries and sickness. The demands are high and we need a squad of players not just a starting 11.
Ake gives us great cover and if Levi is better than him he will start. Simples.

28 Jun 2022 11:27:46
With it looking like Dave and. Alonso both leaving and MS also likely to be sold or loaned, it leaves us with James, Chalaboa, Silva; Chilly and maybe Sterling as defenders.

Colwill looks a talent but I’m not convinced he is ready for our first team yet but I would b shapely to see him in our squad.

I think we will sign three defenders to replace the five who I think will be leaving. I’m happy with that.

28 Jun 2022 11:45:30
I personally like the addition of Ake and Sterling. One of Kounde or De Ligt would be very nice and playing Colwill regularly is a must in my opinion.
We need to sort our ST situation quickly and then focus on a RWB. If Jorgi and/ or Kante go, we must find a replacement. I would love to have Rice in this new team.

28 Jun 2022 12:16:24
I think Zinchenko would be a very good signing for us indeed if we could get him. One of those (up to now) under-rated players, a kind of Dave at his peak but perhaps with more skill. Zinckenko's 25, highly skilled, with extensive EPL experience, and versatile in terms of possible positioning. Could play as a midfielder if needed, and does for Ukrainian national side. But excellent at left back, and would be great to have with Chilly surely needing careful game-time management during his comeback. Also possibility of set back though we hugely hope not. But would City sell?

28 Jun 2022 12:37:33
Ake would also tick a box from a homegrown player perspective for CL registration.

I understand looking at a player such as Ake, comfortable in a back 3 (5) and a back 4…if de Ligt were to be signed, it’d be handy to help him settle in from a language perspective too. I could see Ake and Colwill vying for a lot of minutes across the whole season.

Anyhow, let’s see what happens….

28 Jun 2022 12:41:42
I’m only going on what I saw in our game against Wolves and as I mentioned in my after match summary I was very impressed with there LB/ WB.

There was some noise but us being linked to him recently but that seems to have evaporated.

28 Jun 2022 14:08:17
No Dembele pls.

28 Jun 2022 14:22:24
Funny how we all want different players to sign and to leave.

I would love us to sign Dembele but I think in the end he will stay at Barcelona.

28 Jun 2022 14:56:02
So why spend on ake and zinchenko when we could add maatsen and colwill for £0 if it’s about squad depth, lots of games and injuries, even better, Johnathan clauss, levi col and maatsen for a combined €15-20m Gallagher and Broja In, then use the money on quality starting players, it’s bad enough we buy back a player we had, doing it twice after the €100m lukaku deals been is embarrassing, surprised David luiz isn’t on a list of targets, if Todd b is giving TT the final say and we’re linked to zinchenko ake de ligt richarlson and rabiot I’ll admit it’s not the most exciting mount wagering prospect, seems like another season on relaying on goals from defenders and slow play,

28 Jun 2022 15:42:14
Matt, Putting aside the cost of any signings, I will let the club worry about that. What guarantees are there in putting Colwill, Maatsen or Broja in the squad?

I have preferences about who we sign but I know we won’t sign all of them but what I do know is playing youngsters or players we sign for a fee gives us zero guarantees of success.

This was always going to be a period of upheaval, let’s just cut the club and the new owners some slack.

28 Jun 2022 19:30:00
Matt, I agree with your post. Of course, we don’t know if there is any truth in the rumours about who we want to sign. I certainly wouldn’t be bring Ake back, 3rd or 4th choice for City, I’d rather take a chance with Colwill. I doubt whether we will make any marquee signings, I think we have to accept that we have slipped to the Spurs/ Arsenal level of PL also rans. That wouldn’t bother me if we were looking at young hungry players rather than ones who were surplus to requirements at their current clubs. We will have to wait and see.

28 Jun 2022 19:49:45
Looks like the fist signing of many is about to happen.

He is an upgrade in my opinion.

The new owners look like they are making a statement as I thought they would.

Our squad needed to be changed and although it might not all be by design, I think it’s overdue.

28 Jun 2022 20:20:23
Putting Chilly aside and assuming Alonso (thank god) will be leaving that means as things stand we only have Sarr in defence as a natural left footer.

In my opinion we should be looking to sell Sarr asap and Ake is a definite upgrade on him!

28 Jun 2022 21:13:20
Tom just because Ake is left footed isn’t a good reason to buy him: we sold him once probably for a good reason: he hasn’t really improved that’s why he is 3rd choice at City.

28 Jun 2022 22:04:49
looks like Raphinha will happen, TT wanted him in January and great to see him being backed. Tom B, you are right, Ake is a great signing, top player who should of never been sold in the first place, just like Salah etc. This is a new dawn and we can't compare past mistakes to new owners and their decisions.
This window is looking very good and we will challenge. I know I always bang on about being positive, just my nature, but this new era really is the way forward. Looking forward to TT taking us to the top table.

28 Jun 2022 22:16:40
Jimbo, virtually every single player we have been linked with is an upgrade on what we have got or had.

Let’s be honest Ake is an upgrade on Sarr and that’s all I’m saying plus he can cover for chilly.

I couldn’t give a monkeys why we let him leave.

28 Jun 2022 23:01:39
Tom it’s about opinions, Ake is decent on the ball but he can’t defend, that’s why we sold him and why City will get rid. It’s interesting that a lot of people are saying we should sign so and so because they have PL experience, other clubs seem to do okay buying players from Europe, Cucerella, Raphinha and Diaz are doing alright as are many other players at various clubs. Perhaps, we shouldn’t blame the players but look at our recruitment and coaching and 14 draws last season, maybe TT hasn’t adapted to the PL. Just a thought.

28 Jun 2022 23:34:14
I don't like the option of ake, though our opinion doesn't count, I believe cucurella (ignore the spelling) would be a better signing than ake. I think the Spanish guy would play the rudigar role admirably and provide better support at LWB than Ake as he's a better attacker.

28 Jun 2022 23:53:53
Oscar, unfortunately it looks like Cucurella is going to City that’s why they are trying to offload the makeshift left back Zincencho. True our opinions don’t count to the Chelsea board and TT but we can share them on this site for discussion and see whether we get proved right or wrong at the end of the season.

29 Jun 2022 00:09:43
If we assume Chilly will quickly be back to his best it becomes difficult to get a player, particularly in a World Cup year to come in as just cover.

29 Jun 2022 08:21:22
Ake really I'd rather keep alonso
Ake isn't a upgrade on anyone we currently have
Correct me if I'm wrong we are trying to catch city who are prem champions why are we buying the players that can't even get a game for them doesn't make sense buying there outcasts giving them more money.

29 Jun 2022 09:11:15
I see Ake, if he joins, more as a replacement for Sarr but he can also cover for Chilly if required when Alonso leaves.

I freely admit to not being a fan of Alonso but as it looks like my hope to cover for Chilly (Maatsen) will be going off to pastures new, I’m desperate for an alternative.

30 Jun 2022 11:06:16
Gola you are spot on. City must be laughing their socks off, they have brought in top glass players and are flogging their rejects at ridiculously over-inflated prices- no wonder they are Champions.
