How far have we fallen as a club, last summer buying brightons 3rd choice keeper for 20 odd million to this season john duran at qouted 40 million? who is advising this board of directors.

Agree1 Disagree0

Of course you can always flip that and say "I like the way the club is now looking to scout the next gems like they did last season buying Cole Palmer".

12 Jun 2024 10:26:40
The board is now being advised by people they trust and respect.

The club has “fallen” to 6th. That is an improvement on the previous season and I expect us to improve again next season.

We have only signed one player so far this season and that was a free transfer. I think I will wait until we have at least kicked off for the new season before I think about criticism.

12 Jun 2024 10:39:10
palmer was 1 example that worked
look at the rest? add gusto into that great signing after that there's a long list
badiashille, disasi, mudryk, cucurella, sanchez, wesley fofana datro fofano ugochukwu etc all absoloute dross and were never anywere near the level the fees warranted, they saw dumb yanks with money and poor advisors and rinsed us?

To be fair i think we were unlucky sterling and koulibaly etc didn't work out for us, i think every fan would of taken both players at the time me included

Just when i thought the club was starting to click and the manager was going well they sack sorry go seperate ways??

And when we start looking at sesko and linked to alvarez to 42 million for john duran who can't get a game with villa? flip me we used be an elite team buying the best players now we are like a game of fiffa buying kids hoping they come good so we can sell for profit

All the talk of galagher an chalobah being sold for FFP and were spending stupid money on villa subs its embarrassing how far wev fallen as a club.

12 Jun 2024 11:26:31
A fair assesment Tom B, I am by no means suggesting duran is going to be a flop nor do i want him to be im still absoloutely dizzy looking at some of the deals these owners sanction do.

Poch, there has not been one single club that has got every transfer, buying or selling absolutely right.

Under Romans ownership lots of mistakes were made and it’s a certainty that mistakes will be made in the transfer market by our new owners but some will prove to be absolute super stars.

12 Jun 2024 12:16:30
yeah but under roman we didn't blow our budget on kids we spent it on world class players mostly and that's why we were so successfull and why we won't be as successfull under boehly, crying out for goals and buyin a fella who had 3 pl starts for villa is just strange if its in the reported region of 25 an not 40 do its a gamble worth taking.

12 Jun 2024 14:22:45
I wouldn’t have a clue what our budget was (if any) or what it is but we bought lots of supposed goal scorers and the vast majority weren’t successful.

Winning trophies helps fans to forget the mistakes.

Chelsea is reverting to type where we do penny wise pound . we see a player who will resolve the needs but will be penny pinching on unnecessary gambles which will fail after spending on trials before we finally get what should have been done initially. It happened when we had a free chase for haland when city and Madrid weren't ready but ended up over paying for lukaku. It's obvious from last season that Chelsea need a good striker but we will be jolting around until we end up with unsuitable candidate that will be overpaid on and we continue to look again. Cut out the indecision and resolve the striker. I had expected that the striker would have been sorted by now from the obvious need for one.

12 Jun 2024 15:02:39
I had no idea that would had put a bid in for Haaland.
I seem to remember us being interested but no more than that.

Sometimes doing nothing is doing something.

Laughing at you’re own posts is really poor Poch empire.

Pochempire, Ugochukwu had been injured most the season but the few sub appearances he’s made he’s been quietly impressive imo. Bit harsh to call a player dross when they’ve barely played. When Badiashile joined last January, he came in and looked great, Disasi the same when he joined in the summer. Both had rough patches this season undoubtedly and Badiashile might end up leaving but I think they’re decent options. Cucurella we massively overpaid for imo but the tactical switch for the last 10 or so games this season and his performances at RB were instrumental in us finishing as high up as we did. D. Fofana only cost £10m as had a good 6 month loan at Burnley, I imagine if he was sold this summer we’d likely make a profit on him just off the back of that.

Under the Roman era we overpaid and wasted money on the likes of: Lukaku, Kepa, Torres, Shevchenko, Bakayoko, Drinkwater just to name a few at a value of near 400m. There’s undoubtedly others too.

13 Jun 2024 09:24:46
I would agree on cucurella fuser its either persist with cucu and sell injury plagued chilwell or vice versa both are unreliable options,
Cant understand why nobody at the club wants to give maatsen a go its absoloutely baffling

did ye have a good loan spell? he got about 5 goals

I think badiashile and disasi are both terrible centre halfs the fact the club entertains bids of 25 for chalobah and theyv spent about 70 on those 2 who didn't even stand out in french league is again baffling

1 thing about the roman era was if fellas weren't good enough they didn't play and they for moved on

At least when we did sign bakayoko and lukaku most of thought they were going to be good they both stood out before the moves, drinkwater and zapacosta window was a very strange 1 lol,

Shevchenko another 1 nobody would of said no 2

How many signings under boehly have got fans excited? none of them.

13 Jun 2024 19:15:23
Poch, your last paragraph is a question. So, Caicedo, at the time Enzo but most of all Nkunku. He was the player I was looking forward to seeing the most last season.

13 Jun 2024 23:28:06
I thought caicedo and enzo were both overpriced and really poor deals tom to be honest,

Happy to have both and think caicedo in particular is shining good? but the money we dropped on them was scandolous, ud expect de bruyne and rodri quality for 210 million, but hey who knows they mite turn out to be league winners yet themselves and dominate games, so far for me do enzo just looks like an argentine jorginho.
