Gallagher had every contractual right to have turned down the Chelsea "fair" contract offer made this season and apparently last season. He also had the right to turn down the apparent agreed deal with Villa at the start of the window. Obviously he can now turn down the apparent agreed deal with AM.
Good luck to him in whatever he decides to do.

It is what it is… I don’t feel sorry for Gallagher in the way I do for Chalobah, and if he wants to go play for AM, I think he will be a good fit for a Simeone team in a way that I think will be less so in a Maresca team.

TBH, I am bored with the Gallagher saga: don’t care what he does.

FD 77 agree with you not sure either Chalobah or Gallagher are top level but if Gallagher had wanted to stay he would of signed the contract Trevor did and should be allowed to stay and fight for his place if he wants to.

I still believe CG will leave on a free transfer which is what he and isagents have been angling for.
Not fussed either way now if he does not sign acontract we have enough good players to replace himand we certainly don't need to play in what so ever next season, let him rot with the youngsters.

Bill, maybe a tad harsh.
As always with just being a supporter we can only guess but he may well not want to play for a team in the same league as his boyhood club.
It’s always so easy to point a finger when generally these things are a little bit more complex than we know about.

Tom, obviously Gallagher can run his contract down. I don’t think it’s a case of letting him rot with the under 23s. Firstly, I don’t think he suits the style of the new coach and, secondly, why would you pick someone who will be gone next season? You would be selecting players who will be around and give them a chance to adapt to the new system. If he does decide to run his contract down, I wouldn’t be starting him.

Jimbo, I haven’t got a clue if the very “fair” contract offer we apparently made to CG is still on the table but if he decides not sign a contract now will the clubs contract offer remain throughout the season? Maybe it will and maybe that’s a reason to retain a good working relationship.
It’s difficult for us fans because as I keep saying we are all just guessing.

Jimbo, I’m sorry I should have made it clear having a working relationship with CG doesn’t mean (like you) I would start him.

Tom, I think there needs to be a cut-off point regarding the contract. As I said you can’t build a team and a system around players who haven’t committed themselves to staying at the club. We have plenty of midfielders and need to plan potential loans etc.
02 Aug 2024 10:49:27
Jimbo, reasonable point but I think there is a natural cut off point at some stage when he can sign for another club.
02 Aug 2024 11:56:09
Tom, he can sign a pre-contract agreement with a European club in December/ January to join next summer on a free.
02 Aug 2024 12:25:13
That would sound like a good time to pull up stumps if needs be but my guess is he will leave in this window.
02 Aug 2024 21:35:29
Tom, it is reported that Atletico M have put a deadline, this weekend, for Gallagher to make up his mind.
02 Aug 2024 22:03:24
Jimbo, if we can’t reach an agreement with CG and he doesn’t AM, my guess would be another club will make an offer for his services.
