Out today for my pre-season drink with some ST mates.
Lots of very strong opinions about CG but a couple of them seem convinced that both Chilly and Chalaboa are both going to Utd.

Tom, the Gallagher issue has become very toxic. Most of the media castigating Chelsea for forcing Gallagher out particularly on the issue of offering him a much shorter contract than other recent signings. There may be a different side to the story. The club appointed Maresca because they bought in to the style of football he wants to play. It is clear that Gallagher doesn’t suit that style therefore he is likely to be considered as a squad player; hence the shorter contract offer. That could be one explanation otherwise the club are trying to move him on and get a transfer fee rather than let him go on a free next season. If, Gallagher isn’t in the plans going forward there is nothing wrong with that. Gallagher is a good player but nothing special: he had a dreadful Euros and was subbed off by Southgate at halftime which tells you something.

Jimbo, to be honest I was more interested in the prospect of Chilly and Chalaboa going to Utd rather than the CG contractual issues.
One outlet while not naming it sounds has cinfurned that CFC have offered CG an extension to his current contract. They are saying that the extension would be for two years with an option of a third. CG would also receive a massive weekly increase that would bring him parity with Enzo and Caicedo and about twice as much as Palmer.
It would appear that Chelsea agreed a fee with Villa but CG didn’t want to move to Villa and now the club have excepted a lesser transfer fee than the Villa fee and now await CG’s answer.
The representatives want a longer contractual “period, ” that is there choice.
The clubs coaches are obviously not sure if CG’s all energy style of football, that some fans love, is compatible to how they want the team playing.
I have sympathy with both sides in this debate that is now being played out in the media using words and terms that just designed to be inflammatory and therefore get clicks.
The previous owners sold youth products for lots of reasons. The owners before that sold lots players and let’s not forget that one owner sold, in my opinion, the best youth product this club has ever produced to save the club from potential bankruptcy and that player did not want to leave CFC either.
I personally think not taking Chalaboa on the pre-season tour shows a far greater lack of personal respect but again if a manager doesn’t or the coaches don’t see a player playing on a regular basis for the team maybe it’s best for all concerned that the player moves to another club. If I remember correctly Raffa didn’t rate JT and wanted him out. These things happen.

Tom, I’m not that fussed about the prospect of Chilwell leaving. I do have sympathy with Chalobah though, he should have been given an opportunity on the pre-season tour, he deserved that at the very least.

Jimbo, this is getting boring but I basically agree with your post. I would add just one further point. If the manager doesn’t fancy a player that’s fine but there was no need to make it obvious and potentially damage his transfer price. In my opinion tactically poor.

Tom, all round it doesn’t look good and damages the club’s reputation. Like you nothing more to say on it and want to concentrate on the football: just over two weeks to go.

I just have to say the worst I have seen was jaun mata. The little magician was treat awful because Jose wanted Oscar as his 10.
I still regret this and wished we kept him.
And that was the old owner. So nothing new.

Jsfinchy, it’s ok because he wasn’t a youth product.
Mind you there have been a lot of them sold over the years. Greaves, Venables, Osgood, Bridges, Hudson, Wilkins, Tomori, Abrahams and MG just to name a few.
