More rumors of Omorodion from A. Madrid for £35m. So technically with the Gallagher deal that's £70m for a 20 year old who got 8 goals last season. Transfer policy is baffling to say the least.
Our squad is awful. I thought this might be the window where we sort out the majority of issues and also bring in some experience.
Realistically, our starting Xl is that or a top 10 team not top 4. I don't know who is calling the shots on these transfers but it's beyond a joke. Going to be a long season.
05 Aug 2024 17:37:52
Again I disagree. I think we have a good squad that will be challenging for a Champions League spot. I think City and the gooners are in front of the rest so we have two spots to aim for.
05 Aug 2024 18:17:34
think its separate to the Gallagher deal will cost us 30-40 million. I have no idea if he is any good or not
Our squad is not awful
Keeper, Colwill Gusto James, Cucarella, Lavia Cacaido Fernandez Dewsbury- Hall Palmer Jackson are the foundations of a top 4 side
My biggest worry is that it takes the manager a while to settle on his best 11.
05 Aug 2024 18:39:35
Am also baffled Dan as though Omorodien may develop into a prolific striker he has indeed only scored 8 goals in 34 outings on loan at Alaves (sp? ) While picking up 6 yellow cards. A big gamble again surely?
05 Aug 2024 19:13:39
another unproven un prolific signing, can it get any worse these days
12 months time wel be back crying out for a striker and a top keeper and wel be blue in the face from looking at badiashille, fofana and disasi making mistakes while chalobah will probably be bossing it at a PL rival or a champions league club.
05 Aug 2024 19:18:29
Tom, once again I agree with you. We have a talented squad which is more than capable than challenging for top four. It’s down to the coach and the players.
05 Aug 2024 19:21:13
How is that £70m?
I disagree. Our squad is good enough. Lavia and Nkunku are pretty much new additions and Fofana would be a good addition to our defence especially if he finds his former form.
Also Jackson adding 20 goals as a winger or shadow striker would also help a lot.
05 Aug 2024 19:41:30
How does your maths work we buy him from AM for £35 mil and sell CG for £33-35 MIL and it's costing us £70 million ?
Maybe this is why eds say forget about the financial side of things.
05 Aug 2024 20:03:58
Because they wanted £70m and although the deals are separate we're giving them Gallagher for peanuts essentially plus £35m on top.
Aside from Palmer, Caicedo and Nkunku where's the quality to finish top 4? This is the same team that ALL of us hammered last season at times for being terrible. You're not telling me a 19 Lavia and a guy from Leicester, a championship side are enough to get us challenging.
James can't stay fit. Enzo isn't as good as we thought, Gusto is class at right back but we won't play him there. Apart from Tosin who is new, the rest of the backline had some shocking performances last season and in pre season. The rest of our wingers, strikers blow hot and cold.
3 average keepers and again, another unproven kid in Jorgensen.
We've done nothing to address any of the holes in our squad. Just spent about another £100m on kids.
05 Aug 2024 20:47:28
Dan, to say “ALL of us hammered last season” I think is an exaggeration. I had us to finish between 6th-7th so they were at the top end of my expectations.
Lavia and Nkunku are like new signings and in my opinion are class. I can only see us being more competitive than last season if our players/ squad stay injury free.
05 Aug 2024 21:04:40
Dan23 so the how much are you valuing Connor at then £70 million ?
Last year of his contract doesn't want to sign the 2 year plus 1 year extension giving him the pay increase to be in line with MC and enzo.
But again it's the clubs fault ?♂️.
So if we spend £35 on the striker and sell Connor to them for £33 we get a new striker for £2 million.
Basically for a player that the manager doesn't want.
05 Aug 2024 21:09:18
Put it this way if I went to buy a new house that is up for £70 million and they say ok. We will sell it to you for £35 million and buy your house for £33million. How much would you be spending ?.
Am pretty sure am winning by getting the new house I want for half the price. And getting rid of the house I don't want.
05 Aug 2024 22:43:18
Tom, at one point or another, I would say 99% of us came on here and had a rant about how bad we were. We still have the same squad, no real quality added so what's changed this time around ??
Finchy, AM wanted £70m, don't you think it's a bit suss that we wouldn't pay that but now they're willing to accept £35m? Kinda stinks of they get CG for free and we pay £35m on top. Will we actually see the money for CG or does it turn out, in a few months time that we didn't receive a penny so they basically got the £70m deal in the end anyway.
You're seeing 2 figures of similar amounts quoted online for each player. I'm seeing 2 sets of owners finding a creative solution to get around those figures. Also, I understand how math works, I don't need a patronising lesson or analogy.
And once again, have an opinion on a banter page, one that I didn't say people had to agree with, just me speaking my mind about the club and you get sarky responses from certain members who think their opinions are above the majority on social media. That's not how it works and it's why forums dry up.
06 Aug 2024 00:18:46
I thought you said we were going to win the league last season tom? Or was that the season before?
06 Aug 2024 03:05:00
Dan23, don’t you think it’s kinda sus that we wanted £50m for Gallagher but are only selling him for £35m? If Atletico have changed their mind and are willing to sell Omorodion for £35m I’d imagine it’s more to do with them probably signing Alvarez. Also just because a paper claims Atletico wanted £70m initially doesn’t mean that they did. If papers were correct all the time we’d have some players signing for multiple different clubs at the same time and clubs having 70+ first team players.
Also pretty sure if Atletico agree to pay £35m for Gallagher and then don’t pay us a penny they’ll end up in court ??♂️.

Dan, it’s one thing talking about opinions etc - but you’ve completely made up your own form of mathematics. Gallagher was going to go somewhere - that was basically a fact. By your logic we’ve just sold him for almost £70 million which in my opinion would be a great bit of business from the club as he’s in the final year of his contract and also we’ve avoided selling him to a PL rival.
Another way to look at this would be that we’ve pretty much arranged a swap deal (bar a couple million) for a player we’ve been actively trying to buy, alongside a player we’ve been actively trying to offload before his contract gets run down. Again, a fantastic bit of business.
Will the transfer work out? Only time will tell. But the club have gotten what they wanted for less money (by your mathematical logic), and so they should be ecstatic with the result.
06 Aug 2024 05:26:56
Standard, I think us winning the Premiership was the season after we I predicted we would win the Champions League under TT. Last season was 6th-8th and this season is 3rd-5th. It’s all good fun and makes me feel positive.
I forget who Ona said “every supporter should believe his team should win something before the season starts, otherwise what’s the point” i think it was Stelling talking about Hartlepool.
06 Aug 2024 07:05:49
Dan, fans having a rant from game to game particularly after a poor result is to be expected from all sets of supporters at every club and is not a summary of the club’s overall performance. I always want us to win everything but we pretty much did what I expected. I would also say that a significant amount of posters we happy to see progress, so much so that a lot didn’t want Poch sacked.!
We have signed players who may well turn out to stars for our club and fingers crossed Lavia and Nkunku stay fit because for me they are like a further two new signings.
06 Aug 2024 11:19:25
Dan no condescending from me.
It's just plain and simple your maths don't add up. That's not an opinion that is facts.
{Ed002's Note - You are right - he is a halfwit. I don't know why all of this rubbish is being posted.}
06 Aug 2024 14:36:20
Apologies Tom, my mistake.
06 Aug 2024 15:42:39
Standard, never any need to apologise.
