Cole Palmer is a wonderful player that I'm sure will get better and better over time.

That being said, I do want to see him influence big games. I wasn't impressed with his performances against Liverpool and I wasn't impressed with his performance against Utd. In the first half Utd gave him loads of space to work his magic but for some reason he wasn't very influential.

He has set himself high standards and those standards need to be reached in the big games. I except that this is probably just me wanting more from a lad who is already fantastic.

Agree1 Disagree1

I agree Tom but it is also up to the way the team is set up and those in midfield to allow him the freedom to play in proper no 10 role. This is what Poch did get right in last few months of last season albeit he was forced into the Caicedo/ Gallagher partnership that imho gave Palmer this free role ahead of them. Anyway Maresca needs to find a way to ensure his equal effectiveness season though also up to Palmer to work this out with him too.

JBS. There were some games last season under Poch when Palmer dominated games. The same has happened this season. My point is he needs to show his dominance in important games. It’s probably my old memory but I don’t recall him having a top game against a top club last season.

He is a young player Tom, let's give him time, I'm sure he will get better against bigger teams with more experience.

Bill, yes he is young and my post, although sounding just like a criticism was meant to be a constructive criticism.

I repeat, I think he is potentially a top talent.!

Tom, potentially a top talent? The lad is already world class.

I will stick with top talent for the time being. The term “World Class” is a term I use very sparingly.

Goal in European final
Assist in European semi final
Goal in super cup final
4 goals v Manchester United last season
1 v Manchester City
1 v arsenal
1 v Tottenham
2 v Newcastle this season / last
2 x semi final of league cup
1 x quarter final of fa cup
Over 30 goal contributions in first regular season

He turns up in big games but is too relied upon as not enough goals come from enzo noni mudryk Lavia caceido Felix, Jackson possibly included
Goals from set pieces, days of ivanovic James chillwell alonso Terry carvalho Cahill luiz getting 4/ 5/ 6 goals each a season would cover some of the burden or expectations of fans on him,

Todd, that a very good Palmer summary. Maybe I’m being a bit harsh.
