Watched a really interesting video on YouTube about jhon Duran, I'll try to summarise. Basically he is a throwback striker, really not interested in linking / creating for others, making runs to help others, his about him and the goal and whatever gets that chance he does, about how players aren't tough to be so instinctive but to hold up the ball, wait for others, decoy runs, how if you went by data only and numbers it would take him 25 games to register 1 assist but using same algorithm he would score 42 goals in that 25 games, now that's not how football works but a indication of how he is there to score and score only, the extent of his link up play was dropping into same area and giving the simplest of passes to rogers or whoever and sprinting into the box, as if to say I don't want the ball here I'll go to where I can score,
It did say there's a difficult part to this as in how football is now and especially someone like maresca where football is so tactical and structured would a certain coach try and coach this out of him, as in make him a better CF / ST but less of a pure old school goalscorer?

Matt, thanks for the information. I’m not a massive fan and I don’t think we will sign but it might well soften my opinion.

I'm with you on this one Tom, I beive we won't sign him and I also now believe there will be no incoming this window.
Hopefully then the club can have a thorough review of the SD's, coach and playing staff.

Bill, I’m only guessing but I would assume that an end of season review of all aspects of the club would be standard practice.

One can hope Tom.

Bill, have you considered that the SD’s are doing what they have been told to do?

Then what is the point of SD's Tom, we might as well just let the owners do the club transfers, they might as, we'll as they can't find a FOS that has cost the club millions and as you said before Tom, absolutely no movement in the so called SB project, again costing future revenue.

Bill, I’m not running CFC but my guess is the SD’s have been set a task to find and sign young talented players from around the world. The owners may well consider that the SD’s have been successful in that part of there job description.
A legitimate question would be, was that recruitment totally justified? Could the club have used its academy talent pool more efficiently?
A mate tells me that if the last eleven Utd players signed seven age 20 or under. City signed and played two players against us last weekend, what age are they?
To me there has been a growing trend for clubs to secure younger and maybe cheaper talent rather than the finished article. I repeat this is just how it appears to me and it could well have been going on for years without me noticing.
You bring the development of SB up again and you use the word “absolutely, ” I was assured by a member of the FAB board that work and discussions are ongoing about all the different proposals.
The FOS deal may well have worked out better for the club NOT to secure a long term sponsor while we are not in the Champs League. So far from being incompetent the owners may well have been able to work out the maths and downside on doing a long term FOS sponsorship deal now.

Tom, what are you suggesting they have been told to do? We all know you don't like guesswork.
29 Jan 2025 12:23:59
FBD, I try to preface any “suggestions” I make by clearly saying they are guesswork. I try not to make guesswork out to be fact.
I have no way of knowing what the SD’s job description is. I am only guessing. It could well be (again only a guess) that the owners may well believe that the SD’s have done exactly what has been asked of them.
