When we got beat away against Newcastle last week a poster trotted out our dreadful away form since the turn of the year as a reason EM should be sacked.
Last night a fellow season ticket holder told me that since the turn of the year our ten home premiership games results have been 8 wins and 2 draws with only 7 goals conceded. Just maybe, that's a reason not to sack EM?
Can I also add that the first 45 mins last night was some of the worst football I've seen at the bridge in yonks. Still, at this stage of the season it's the result that counts.

Yeah i honestly think tom once we get a keeper and a striker who can win us the tight away games imstead of missing chances and getting punished it will help imrpove that form, that on top of the fact we fell apart defensively when fofana got injured i am not there is a cb available that is as good as fofana do but someone like geuhi or murillo of forrest don't get cl football would be well worth a try
Add santos, petrovic and estevao to yhis squad, buy a cb and a striker andnd if the market allows go get a superstar like rodrygo don't sit back and allow city or the pool to get him we would be well set for many years to come
Given the club world cup money and a nee sponsor on top of the players we will sell/ loan and clear the wage bill i think the club will be in profit come the end of the summer.

I don't trust Maresca with this project in the long-term. But, no matter what happens in the cup final or last game of the season, it's pretty clear he's going nowhere. So, there's little left to do but support him and the team.
I wasn't there last night, but could feel how tense it was through the TV, especially as the Villa score started to filter through. With zero attacking alternatives on the bench to change the game if needed, it felt like a 'job done' performance, rather than one that should be judged on how good the football was. Another such performance against Forest would be excellent.
I thought Caicedo, and the whole defence were excellent.

Tom
Great on the home form however the last game of the season is a must win game and it's away, not at home.
This is where our away form since January is brought into play.
Our good home form has got us to where we are.

Poch, how on earth would the club be in profit after another window of spending 150m?
17 May 2025 09:19:39
Standard, maybe amortisation could be the reason it could happen.
Bill, our recent home form has kept us in contact but our away form has meant qualifying for the Champions League has been a struggle but surely we have to look at the season in the round and not just good and bad bits of form.
J, supporting the team and manager at the start of next season should just be a given. We should be saying goodbye to lots of players and have a few additional players from signings and loan returnees.

If West Ham get a result against Forest we only need to match Villa's result against Utd so potentially we could lose our last premier league game and still qualify for the champions League!
17 May 2025 09:28:20
Poch, don't forget we lost money on a FOS this season, sorry my bad, our commercial department managed to find one for the last few games.
17 May 2025 09:34:35
Poch, I think the club may take the view that amongst our keepers there must be a good one. I wouldn’t be surprised if we revert back to Petrovic and Sanchez for next season.
I agree about goalscorers winning tight games and we could do with some more proven help for Jackson.
I also think you may be correct about our so called “nett” spend in this window. Being selfish, I hope they don’t sell any players from my favourite player list.
17 May 2025 09:44:56
Bill, if the FOS deal they got for the last six game is indicative of the money they want for sponsors, that would be very good news.
17 May 2025 13:28:39
Tom
Unfortunately we don't really know the figure involved.
17 May 2025 13:51:33
Greenaway, I think we have to beat Forest as Utd are doing absolutely nothing against Villa.
Tom
Agree that the season needs to be taken as a, whole, but just think where we would be if we had say another 3 wins away from home.
17 May 2025 14:48:05
Bill, three more away wind would probably have put them above my expectations. Maybe next year.
Also, the figure I saw reported was between £10-£12m for the potential seven remaining men’s games. Plus the ladies remaining games. The amount didn’t include the WCC.

Amazing that even Arsenal are now in the equation! If they lose to Newcastle it really will be squeaky bum time on the last day of the season!
Pochempire, I totally agree with your post.
17 May 2025 17:12:44
Tom, amortisation is irrelevant regarding overall profit. If poch just meant next year will be a green year rather than a red, that's fair. But if he meant overall club profit like the post suggested, no chance.
17 May 2025 18:18:44
Standard, I think that is exactly what Poch meant and Amortisation as I understand the meaning can effect profitability.
20 May 2025 12:44:29
meant just for this seasonwe should end it well in the green with incoming sponsorship, club world cup and potential european football plus player sales and removing about 12 players off the wage bill.
