With the news that Jadon Sancho will not be joining on a permanent basis and Noni is up for sale with George likely to go on loan and doubts remaining over Mudryk that suddenly leaves just Neto as an out and out winger. Palmer prefers to play as the 10 as does Willian Estevao although both of those can play wide right. Nonetheless 5 or 6 players will be needed to cover those 3 positions so I'm now thinking we will either bring 2 wide players in or 1 out and out winger plus another striker who can also play wide, unless the plan is to use Jackson there?

RPD, is that official about Sancho?

03 Jun 2025 10:07:50
According to reports in The Guardian Tom.

03 Jun 2025 11:17:53
RPD, that’s a shame but I think it’s right that we are moving the players towards PRP.

According to reports Sancho wouldn't budge on wages, we will either keep Noni or buy the odd winger.

Would like to of kept him but important not to break the wage structure.

Jackson can also play as a winger. I thought he looked much better in the games where he has done that.

03 Jun 2025 11:55:38
He would of been a useful squad player but nice to see the club sticking to their principals on wages. I think the owners had their pants pulled down when TT demanded "experienced" players and through poor advice bought the highly "experienced" Sterling, Koudibally and Abeamorongwrong on crazy money which is what the "experienced" players demand. I much prefer this model and let the team grow together and gain "experience" along the way.

03 Jun 2025 13:44:09
Yes Jackson can. play as a winger or on left if front two if that part of a formation.

03 Jun 2025 13:45:42
PS I predictably don't think Sancho has made best career decision re holding out for high wages rather than being part of CFC.

03 Jun 2025 13:53:03
Wage structures are useful in the age of PSR etc. However, hoping a team will grow together depends on the ability of the players, coaches etc. Top class players will expect higher wages. You don’t just get your pants pulled down by paying high wages; making poor signings is just as bad. Sancho is a prime example: why on earth did we loan him with an obligation to buy?

03 Jun 2025 13:55:45
It’s not a good look for the player or selling club when you pay NOT to sign a player! haha.

I think we didn't pay a loan fee and Utd paid half his wages so the £5 m is like a loan fee in reverse

On the utd pages someone said he is on £300,000 a week at that wage you get to £5M In 16-17 weeks.

03 Jun 2025 14:19:07
Jimbo, we did negotiate a get out clause albeit apparently £5m. Given he won’t change his current salary package, that clause now seems ok.

I assume someone did ask him when the loan started “would you be willing to negotiate a new remuneration package. ”

Going forward I wouldn’t sign a single player that didn’t except PRP.

Tom, whatever the financial implications are I am glad that he is going back to Man U. Amorim will be pulling his hair out.

03 Jun 2025 15:39:47
I totally agree Tom and this performance related pay model is the way forward in my humble opinion.

03 Jun 2025 17:11:08
As I understand it the so called £5m fee we are now paying Utd for not taking up our option is more about us not paying them a loan fee. It’s also been said that we only paid 50% of his salary. In my opinion we got our money’s worth from the deal.

If he doesn’t want to except CFC’s performance related pay structure that’s up to him.

As far as I know he has acted professionally at all times while at CFC. It could well be that the latest Utd manager may well get some performances from the lad.

He goes with my best wishes and thanks.

People are surely not serious that Jackson can play as a winger? Playing wide and playing as a winger are two completely different things. Jeez. No.

04 Jun 2025 10:25:03
Apparently Jackson played as a winger early in his career and Poch played him out wide on left with Nkunku more central successfully in his preseason before Nkunku injured and never quite as impressive again forbus at least.

I'm think modern formations systems and tactics allow much more flexibility in terms of positioning but it is true of course that we've been playing Jackson main striker and often up there on own.
