With Al Hilal knocking Man City out of the CWC it got me thinking about our old sporting director Michael Emenalo who is now the sporting director for the Saudi League. I thought he was brilliant for us overseeing some great signings but I seem to remember him getting lots of stick on here and other forums for his recruitment which got me thinking that it must be a very difficult job to get right.

RPD, all fans see players differently and there is virtually no chance that any SD or SD’s will make all of us fans happy.

That is very true Tom! I seem to remember Willian getting loads of stick on here which I always thought was unfair, same for Mikel as well. And those guys were major winners over the years.

RPD and let’s not forget in more recent times the likes of Caicedo and Cucarella.

I have no idea if Delap and Pedro will prove to be successful signings but I personally will be giving them a chance to prove there worth.

A significant proportion of Delap and Pedro’s goals last season ( which wasn’t particularly high) were scored from penalties. I doubt that Palmer will be relieved of penalties. So they both need to step up.

Ah, Mikel. Some of my favourite Barney Ronay lines written about him: 'Mikel John Obi remains a tiny, plaintive child's face grafted on to the rippling neck of a frighteningly muscular human being and condemned to run unstintingly sideways. '

Edw, before Mikel joined us he was more of an attacking midfielder but Jose wanted something different from him. Yes a lot of side passes but he was very good at breaking up play. Always, gave his best for us; underrated in my opinion.
