I know it's early days before next summers window but as we all know long term I think we need a quality CB to eventually replace and rotate with Silva next year. It's around that CB is Franks main target.

Jose Gimenez is a name branded about from time to time and I think he's quality but he's come back and once again now he's injured again for a few weeks with a muscle injury. I mean do we really want our future long term CB to be injury prone?

Early days but I'd prefer to see us target Jules Kounde. Konate is also a big shout at Leipzig people say he's injury prone but as I'm aware he's just had one big injury. If he can come back to similar quality he could be the man we're looking for.

Ben White would be great for this. A year rotating with and learning from Thiago Silva before forming a potentially excellent partnership with Zouma.

Not being awful J but have you watched Ben White this year? I’ve watched a few Brighton games and he has been very poor defensively. I was disappointed as I heard good things about him last season at Leeds. He reminds me a lot of Stones decent but not Chelsea quality.

Yeah watched a fair bit of him this year. I think we need to remember he's in a team which isn't necessarily set up to be defensively sound, and certainly doesn't do their CB's any favours. The John Stones comparison isn't a million miles away, both are good on the ball etc. but I'd say Ben White is a more natural defender.

I also think it's important to remember he's not the end product. If we we're to sign him it's be to learn from Thiago Silva, and then after that Zouma would still very much be the senior defender.

I can't see us spending a lot of money on a young defender when Marc Guehi is doing so well at Swansea and that doesn't take account of Ampadu either.
Much will depend on Rudigers form and whether he wants to move on.
If he does leave then we need to sign a top experienced CB to replace him.

Good shout on Guehi, getting rave reviews at Swansea. Also Sarr at Porto, come to think about, and Tomori may get some confidence from a loan in January. We certainly have options.

If the Alaba rumours are true, for me, I think he’s the best shout. He’s 28 years which isn’t bad.

I agree with you Obinna on Alaba, he can play in multiple positions, got the winning mentality, experience and leadership needed for our young team. His wages might be significant but he's on free if I'm not mistaking.

Alaba would be my choice. Being a natural left footer and being able to play i two positions helps as well.

When I mentioned him before I got told I was living in a fantasy world. So I guess it’s unlikely.

We have a lot of good young options in defence. But if we are going to sign someone, I would prefer a good defender with PL experience.

A name that comes to mind and fit the bill perfectly for us is Tyrone Mings of Villa. He is 27, left footed, strong in the air and has good leadership attributes.
He has also learned a lot from JT these past 2 seasons and we all know that means a whole lot.
I would love to get him in our team.

Ashk121 I guess your choice is simply anything English. Seeing only your compatriots as the best even when there are other options way ahead is what it is. Rice over Kante and other choices like Ben White and now wanting Mings over Alaba when they are around the same age.
Please I know you are entitled to your opinion as the convenient excuse but some choices are ridiculously sentimental.
I hope Tammy is not just preferred to Giroud based on this kind of mindset because it's still a misery to many fan and neutrals alike. That Spurs draw still feel like a loss to me as I feel it would have been a statement and ultimate morale booster. Giroud would have ensured that but Tammy was not only chosen but stayed on far too long in disregard to Oly who practically dragged us to 4th place last season when Tammy had fallen off.

Bro, I'm from Iran, so that's that. 😁
I'm not going to go ahead and reply all the things you said, but I've never said we should get Rice over Kanté. I was and still am Ok with us selling Kanté and Rice is the type of player we need, regardless of Kanté being in our team or not.

Yeah, Alaba is a good player but you have to pay around 250K£ in wages if you want him and maybe even more. I find that ridiculous.
Mings would surely do a decent job in my opinion.

I don't get why everyone is bashing Tammy TBH. He didn't really miss a great clear cut chance against Spurs and in that same game Oli missed our best chance of scoring a goal. But I'm not slandering him, cause I am a fan and I support every Chelsea player.

Have a good day, Cheers.
