Saw an article yesterday of Chelsea being interested in Aurélien Tchouaméni. I have to say that he is one central midfielder that could fit-in quite nicely at Chelsea. He is quite ok for a team that wants to play a single regista (as in 4-3-3 etc) ; or wants to play a double six (as in 3-4-3/ 3-4-2-1, 4-2-3-1 etc) . He truly looks a stable DM/ CDM.
But I guess the headache would be who leaves for him esp at this moment when Kovacic, Kante and Jorginho have all blended and playing very well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Plus we have Ampadu, Gallagher and Gilmore to consider unless you are suggesting they are surplus to requirements?

06 Mar 2021 11:55:55
I can still see one of Jorgi or Kante leaving this summer or the following. We know Gilmour could of gone on loan in January to get more first team football and with ampadu I'm not sure whether the club see him as a CB or DM considering his past two loans he's been used as a CB in a back 3.

I think Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho will all be at Chelsea next season and they deservedly should be at the club next season. I see no reason why TT would want to let them go, I think he (TT) has understood and trust them 3 (Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho), besides they have all being playing exceptionally well since TT came in. Gilmour is the player I am concerned about; I really think he is a great shout and should make the squad again next season but wouldn’t it be advisable for him to seek constant (week-in week-out) football on loan somewhere else?

06 Mar 2021 15:26:23
Well despite the hype I think it's too early for Gilmour to be considered as a potential first team regular and agree he needs to get at least a season under his belt somewhere he will get played regularly maybe in the Championship.
It's worked well for Gallagher who I hope will be considered as a member of the midfield group next season.

Honestly, we should sell Kova and Jorgi while their are performing and the price is high and we should add a PL proven DM.

06 Mar 2021 16:20:35
Why sell players based on the form they have shown under the previous regime?
Has it not occurred to you that TT is utilising the talents they have properly and in the correct formation?
They are both very experienced PL players now with a good deal of European experience as well performing currently at a good level.
Based on the form shown under the last regime at least half the squad should be sold but fortunately we now have an experienced coach who is a good man manager and excellent tactician.

Ashk121; which premier league DM/ CDM would you recommend to replace them and how many CDMs out there in the EPL moves and controls the ball better than them (Kovacic and Jorginho)? I think those two players (Jorginho and Kovacic) have been underperforming (before now) because of the manager that has been handling them. Perhaps before the end of the season, Kovacic and Jorginho would have proven to everyone that they are top top central midfielders.
Personally I think there are not many out there that’s better than Kovacic and Jorginho at the moment (in Europe), so why sell them now that they have finally settled in and at the top of their game?

06 Mar 2021 21:58:29
I’m sorry but we barely create anything in our current formation due to the lack of creativity from our midfielders. They’re only performing better due to having a back 3/ 5. If we do switch to a back 4 next season (my hope) then they’ll be awfully exposed again, especially Jorginho against top opposition.

07 Mar 2021 02:29:27
Since switching to a back three we're unbeaten, with only City having a better record.

Certainly Kovacic and Jorginho are playing they're best football for us. Azpilicueta, Silva, Christensen and Rudiger all look more comfortable in a three too. But we should change it to a back four, which wouldn't suit any of them and leave them all exposed.

Can't have it all.

07 Mar 2021 07:01:39
Both players are very limited in what they can offer. Very limited passing range, no physicality and no shooting ability what so ever.
You guys seem to forget how poor Jorgi was even under Sarri.
Yes they are playing slightly better but let's not fool ourselves thinking they are world beaters. This system that we are playing with helps the them a lot.

This is a list of PL proven DMs that we can get:

Rice
Ndidi
Ruben Neves
Bissouma
Wijnaldum

The list could be higher but the first two would improve our midfield massively. Ampadu and Gallagher can play a role in the middle as well as Kova/ Jorgi. Not to mention we already have Gilmour who is a brilliant player.

Jorginho and Kovacic’s strength has never being in their defensive abilities (interceptions, tackles, blocks etc), rather their strength is in their ability to control the ball hence controlling the game (cos of their technical ability) . How we under rate our players cos we think the grass is greener on the other side. If we are switching to a back four, I think we have to change our central defenders first.
The best midfield that I ever seen play football was the trio of Busquets, Xavi and Iniesta, and they were out standing too for their ability to control the ball (hence the game) .

NB: ability to keep and control the ball is a form of defending.

At the moment, I think Jorginho and Kovacic are far technical than all the names you listed Ashk121.

07 Mar 2021 13:38:37
Their ball control is good, especially Kova but you want a lot more than that.
You just named 3 of the best Spanish midfielders of all time and their skill set is more than just ball control. Shooting ability and creativity is something we lack in our midfield and it has been so for quite some time. So I think if we are going to take another PL/ CL we need to have a dominant midfield.

All of the guys I named are better in every aspect of the game and they are technical enough to play for any team in Europe. I remember that Liverpool was in for Neves at the start of the season, but then they signed Thiago.

Jorgi and Kova are not bad players, they are just not the kind of player that will get you far.

Anyway this is just my opinion.

I don't believe in keeping positions for players who have not shown he's good enough to take us up. mount has shown that if you're good enough you are old enough. not every youth players will be good enough. so we can't pause just to wait for some layers who are not even good enough in smaller teams where they went on loan for regular first team experience and you wouldn't buy player's who have capacity to able us go back and even surpassthat level. many of are really funny someone suggested that we should pass up an opportunity to sign Halaand for a player in our academy as he's destinies to be the biggest thing in the world. Pro Rice even said Kante should be replaced with rice. I only want the best for Chelsea. EPL proven players don't always matter like drinkwater. essien, drigba never played in the EPL. a player with the required skill sets should be targeted. obsessions are usually British and academy players who are mostly British football is a global nationality. cafter all Messi is not a Spaniard but he he accgueved more than everyone in the laliga. i hate preferential treatment for something we call competition. british always hype their own even when it's better than others. have list count if players dubbed to be the next big thing but eventually ended up in the championship.

08 Mar 2021 11:42:00
Of course there are plenty of British players who have been over hyped. There have also been plenty of overseas players who have been over hyped.

The media, clubs and fans are always looking for the supposed next superstar. I’m sure that happens in every country.

I’m not a fan of the British media but I think it’s understandable why they want to big British players up and again I would guess the same happens in every country.

I can’t say I understand them but we do have rules about who qualifies as a home grown player and I’m happy that includes all nationalities.

08 Mar 2021 11:58:37
I think it's me you're referring to ilo, re Haaland. Talking about making sure there's a pathway for Soonsup-Bell to come through. To be clear I didn't say bring him through at the expense of signing Haaland, I said we need to make sure there remains a pathway for him, and players like him, to come through alongside big signings.

Rules are changing, there will be an impetus on having homegrown players in squads. Chelsea have put themselves in a strong position regarding this, but we need to make sure the top talent in our youth team, like Soonsup-Bell, doesn't go elsewhere. They're the players that need to be the homegrown talent in our squad.

In the case of Soonsup-Bell, the ideal situation, for me, would be to sell Abraham, give Giroud another year and sign Haaland. Then bring Soonsup-Bell through alongside Haaland. It's all kind of irrelevant though as we're unlikely to sign Haaland.

08 Mar 2021 14:46:03
What ever makes you feel we are like/unlikly to sign Halaand is just personal opinion. you actually said that signinghaland should be thought of very hard because he will likely block yoursoon uppart to the first team. Can you imagine that passing up an opportunity that every clubs in Europe are making special arrangements to have him just because we have a Mac ecran forgive spelling who you're as the next iniesta. a bird in hand worth more than as a million in the bush cones to mind.
Ashk will soon be up with rice campaign who would probably cost as much as Halaand because English player's go for premium price . some one from westham was quoted that Rice woul cost much over 100m and ashk will certainly tell us how he worth it because he's a leader and can also double up as a goolkeeper and alsolead the attack if needed.

08 Mar 2021 17:20:45
Ilo I find your opinions very shortsighted indeed.

Nobody knows how Soonsup-Bell's career is going to be but he is certainly a very very promising young talent.
Haaland is another great young player with one good season under him in Bundesliga.
We all know that having talent doesn't mean you are going to be successful everywhere you play, so that's why I have doubts about signing Haaland for a ridiculous amount of money which will be well north of 200m€.

About Rice:

He is a complete DM that can transform any team he plays for. He has proven himself and if we don't get him, we are surly going to regret it. We all know he won't be 100m£. Chilly was quoted to be 80m but we got him for 50. The same thing is going to happen with Rice if we are interested.

11 Mar 2021 15:41:53
Ashk short-sighted to you mean signing a striker who has established himself in Europe at 20 for an academy player who's yet to even make a cup appearance. There's a risk he may not even make at all at Chelsea. Remember macehran who was we were made to he's successor to Messi the rest is history now. Halaand can play for close to 10 years and still go for a big money.
Hemay not even be far older than soonsup afterall. l don't hop to see Halaand in a city team so you would realise what a mistake we have made no going for him.

Stop the hype about Rice he wouldn't
still be in West Ham if he's capable of transforming teams as you claim. he's just another jackrodwell hyped by your media. i Wil take neves over him any day.
