It is nonsense - Chelsea and Mount are negotiating a new contract and, unless Mount's demands are Rudigeresk, a 5 year contract will be agreed.

When the manager has such confidence in you he says something like “if Mason is fit he has to play”, I think he should and is very happy.

Mount's contract is due to expire in 2024. He currently earns £75,000 per week.
Rudiger wants 12 million euros a year, an amount that Chelsea aren't keen to pay him. Seems, to me, that Rudiger has been very professional, but he really wants to leave the club on a free transfer.

I can’t see MM staying on that weekly salary for for very long. I think the club will give him an improved contract at some stage.
The Rudiger contract issue for me is now down to the player tempering his demands. If the reported demands are true, my guess is he will leave and as I’ve said before that will be a shame because he has been playing well in a three.

Only if he agrees to the terms the club offer.
The reported gap between the offer and what is wanted seems very large to me. I hope that gap can be narrowed but the interested parties will both have to move and as much as I want it to happen, I just can’t see it happening.

Whilst Rudiger is doubtless imperious right now, part of me thinks he still remembers it was only a short time ago he was close to leaving the club…his happiness (and good form) could only be a managerial change away.
For me, I’m more concerned as to Christensen’s contract situation, after all he’s also improved massively, is younger and let’s not forget counts as a homegrown player in European competition.

Christensen signing a new contract would be massive for me and I agree Steve he has improved beyond all recognition.
He is becoming a top class player in my opinion and I would be gutted if he left.
Anyway, I think he will sign in the next few days.

This is the aspect of the game that infuriates me: players sign a contract and get some good reviews and start believing their own publicity and then want X amount because so an so is on more than them. Obviously, when contracts fall to be reviewed the player is entitled to negotiate. Steve B makes a very good point about Rudiger; no matter how much we pay him he still can’t play on a back four. In any event, it’s up to the club to decide how much they are willing to pay players and if someone wants to go to another club for more money that is up to them.

With this group of players I’ve only seen players who want to play and I’ve never seen any arrogance.
They all seem happy to be playing for the Champions of Europe.

Jimbo Rudiger plays well in a 4 for Germany and under Sarri. He can definitely play well in a 4, like I suspect he will be doing for Munich next year.

Standard he was generally hapless in a four for us.
The gaps of a four seemed to leave him completely lost. It was as if he needed a sat nav.
Im happy he is playing well in our three and if he leaves, I wish him well.
