I was told at the game on Saturday by a fellow CPO that there have been more applications for CPO certificates in the last few weeks than in the last year. There must well over 10,000 owners now.
I was also told that the CPO own the name "Chelsea Football Club" and lease the name back to the club. This was something (if true) that had passed me bye.

As a fellow CPO that’s true as far as I’m aware. We own the rights to the name as well as the pitch. Glad to hear the numbers are increasing.

As far as I know, and I might be wrong, CPO own the rights to the Chelsea name, and lease it to the club on the condition that they play at Stamford Bridge.

I have now checked it out lads and you are correct. The CPO own the rights to the CFC name.
Also it now looks like there are over 14,000 CPO certificates.

Correct, that's what complicated us trying to relocate to Battersea at the time, amongst other things.

Dadubliner, I agree Battersea would have been ideal, although CPO probably would have blocked it, in the end a Malaysian consortium outbid everyone else. No doubt all the bidders have said they will use their “best endeavours” to redevelop Stamford Bridge but I doubt anything much will change in the next five years. As I’ve said previously, the most recent plan to redevelop the stadium was totally unrealistic and not economically viable. We will just have to accept the stadium as it is with maybe the odd luck of paint.
