Ed any truth Barcelona have beaten chelsea to kounde, seems to be hot topic, I presumed there were agreements and it was only a matter of time before we finally got him now rumours are Barcelona are in for him,

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona remain keen on the player and are talking to Sevilla, as are Chelsea. I suspect it will come down to the players wishes if fees and payment terms are agreed. Barcelona may look to include a player in any transaction.}

So in short, we have lost it because we penny-pinched last summer and in January.
I hope Tuchel walks, he deserves better backing.
The minimum this summer was two quality CBs, wingback cover, a midfielder and an attacker, before any further sales.
I have no faith in any of that being achieved. Probably start the season calling Barkley a new signing.
New owners need to overhaul scouting and negotiating once this mess of a window is over.
Stop quibbling and posturing and pay up. Look at Liverpool- target identified, fee paid, deal done. In the space of a few days.
I am fed up.

RJ you need to relax mate. Barcelona don't have a penny to spend right now, let alone throwing funds on Kounde. Yes if they had sold FDJ but as things stand they haven't yet. I doubt a player exchange would suffice.

16 Jun 2022 11:11:27
They are about to have a huge wedge of cash by selling economic rights.
The new owners needed to come in big and convince people they are right for the job. A quick quality marquee signing like Koundé would have announced it to everyone and made people sit up and take notice. Instead we are watching United negotiate for De Jong, Spurs sign Bissouma, Spence, Perisic and possibly Richarlison, City sign Haaland and bid for Cucurella and Phillips and Liverpool sign Nunez. All the while our first choice midfielder has gone elsewhere and our first choice central defender is going elsewhere. People will call me negative but I was right last summer about it being bad business.

16 Jun 2022 12:01:00
Pint half empty RJ. If he goes to Barcelona it’s his choice and not much the club can do about it.

16 Jun 2022 12:17:34
The same way people say about Chelsea signings, until we see a player holding the teams kit, it's not a "done-deal"!

16 Jun 2022 14:10:53
Well we couldn't do much about our 1st choice Midfielder (Tchouameni) due to the affects of the sanctions. But I doubt we will lose out on our 1st choice CB unless there is a very good reason. Honestly, I'm not worried at all by the Barcelona rumours. They need to get the free free transfers over the line 1st.

16 Jun 2022 14:13:37
RJ28P - you’ve wound the ends up previously. We’re just don’t need toxic negativity. The club has been through wholesale change; give them a break; give them a chance. Judge them when the window closes not now!

16 Jun 2022 15:47:53
Studley, with respect, I have a right to voice my views. I did it a year ago and it turned into everyone just having a dig at me. Look back and you will see what I said was 100% spot on.
Answer me this: what is there positive at the moment RE: our transfer business? 2 weeks till our first friendly. Tick tock.

16 Jun 2022 16:18:12
Absolutely but it’s the way you do it that causes issues with the Ed’s. Talk is about one or two signature signings only. Life as a Chelsea fan is going to be different and we need to see that. We also still have some amazing youth players and we need to keep a path to the first team open.

16 Jun 2022 16:29:42
To be fair we must be a bit of a laughing stock, chased kounde and tchoumeni for couple years, apparently close every window, re sign lukaku for club record and one year on his begging to go back to Italy, we’ve tried for few years to move on players to no luck and had first team players leave as contract up, it’s not great is it, even looking at signings like drinkwater / Bakyoko baba Rahman zappacosta lukaku, and the champions league win covered few disappointing in werner ziyech we have squandered a lot of money, money recouped in guehi tomori Tammy livramento lampety who some would welcome back in open arms, the big 4 turned to big 6 add Newcastle that’s 7, competition is fierce so we need to be on it and ready, I don’t think we can continue buying players with no output in goals assists like, mane and salah - less than £70m for pair ? Son at spurs how much did he cost?

16 Jun 2022 17:02:15
Exactly my point Matt, every club that negotiates with us now just waits for us to roll over and have our tummy tickled when buying our players; and just sells elsewhere when we mess around trying to quibble over buying prices. I hope fans will realise that when tonight Barcelona announce that agreement for Koundé.
Studley, I am massive fan of the youth. Selling Abraham, Tomori, Guehi and Livramento in one summer was always going to be a shambles in the longer term. Chickens have come home to roost quickly. I'd love to say adding 3 or 4 loanees to the squad massively boosts us.
However I am also a realist. Broja's good but he's not a 25+ goal striker. Colwill has high potential, but he isn't Rüdiger. Gilmour has promise but doesn't stand up to Kanté or Jorginho. Ampadu had a good season for a poor Venezia side. The only one that clearly is ready is Gallagher.
The promise from the new owners was a significant summer budget to refresh the squad, with several key signings, a blend of youth and data-led recruitment. That is what I will be holding them to.
Sangaré apparently has a €30m release clause. If he is good enough - pay it and get it done. Jesus or Sterling costs £50m? If the manager wants him, pay up and sort it. Same with a contract for Dembele - back the manager and buy players he wants, for his style and his system. Not vanity signings like Lukaku.
We still have all these players to sell too: Emerson, Barkley, Bakayoko, Kenedy, Batshuayi, Baba, Miazga.
And that isn't even considering that any combo of, or all 3 of Ziyech, Werner, Pulisic might go; Lukaku is gone; Jorginho wants to go and Kantè is considering his options; Alonso wants to go; Kepa wants to go and Azpilicueta wants to go.
I am all for being optimistic. I am not going to be blindly positive for the sake of it.

16 Jun 2022 18:24:38
It happens all the time when a player prefers to play for a certain team. It’s worked in our favour before and it will again.

Of course we can buy players like KDB or Salah and not give them a chance.

We will make good signings and some that don’t work out. It will always be the same.

16 Jun 2022 18:50:46
Think we should change the wording from negativity to concern,

16 Jun 2022 19:19:59
Matt, if he signs for us and I think he will, all that will happen is there will be outrage about signing Jesus, Sterling or any other player from another group of fans

It’s totally impossible to make every fan happy.

16 Jun 2022 19:53:25
RJ, I understand your concern but I am more interested in who we sign not when we sign them I am not fussed about who Spurs have signed or about to sign. As for Jesus and Sterling, not interested: they are pee’d off with Pep and will go anywhere where the money is and don’t particularly want to play for Chelsea. Neither would improve us. Your concerns may turn out to be well founded, we will have to wait and see.

16 Jun 2022 20:07:58
That’s my point Jimbo. Whoever the club sign it will not make every fan happy.

I’m with you on when we sign a player. I want it to be before the first day of pre-season but I’m not that fussed.

16 Jun 2022 20:23:50
Easy RJ, will Barcelona announce the Kounde agreement tonight? What time ? ? ?.

16 Jun 2022 20:29:20
Also is it really 2 weeks until our first friendly? I thought our USA tour started mid July (17th)

16 Jun 2022 22:41:14
100% Laughing stock of last Season - Champions of Europe let's everyone Laugh!

16 Jun 2022 23:48:47
Lrdit - absolute laughing stock?

- 4 cup finals, 2 won
- 3rd in the Premier League behind 2 teams hailed as amongst the greatest ever
- Quarter finals of the CL, losing to the eventual champions who also beat the two English teams above us in the league

Was it great? No. Was it a laughing stock? Hardly - and especially when played out against a background of sanctions against Abramovich, fewer fans in the stadium, C.V. outbreaks.

Time for a little patience, perhaps?

FFS people, Kounde deal agreed last sumnmer, his club then decided to up transfer price (being greedy) and it fell over (rightly so I think) . Touchamini (spelling sorry) pursued by us decided then RM was his preferred destination this summer. All good, get over it! We want players who want to be here, unfortunately our excessive spending in past years with transfer fees and wages offered etc has placed us in an awkward situation. Perhaps the club have realised that paying over the odds, just cause you can, may not be the actual answer to creating a winning team. An example in question is Camavinga, couldn't wait to join RM, above all other potential offers of 1st team starting and now with Touchimini joining will drop further down the list as a starter possibly. In that team still got to displace Modric, Casamero and Kroos to even get a start. Good luck boys! Replacing a talent is a challenge, not a given, soft cocks, driven by manager greed, rather than reality. And so your position of importance now disappears.
