Only Twitter but seen lots of talk of us trying to move quickly for sesko and olise,
Hard not to be excited by those 2 and the speed in which I think we should be getting sorted and all returning from euros / olympics ready to go,
If we sign tosin, keep all defenders, would people be happy to go into the season signing
> olise sesko and a GK
< lukaku maatsen Broja Sanchez Hutchinson Gallagher silva Sterling hall moreira Angelo
- loan ugo gilcrest carney.
04 Jun 2024 21:05:27
I definitely wouldn’t loan out the three you have mentioned.
04 Jun 2024 22:43:28
Loan out Carney? Oh my word! Clueless.
04 Jun 2024 23:57:12
agree i would be open to maybe gilcrest on loan but carney no, and olise adabayo sesko and a new GK would be a really great summer but sesko is far from done huge competition for his signature.
04 Jun 2024 23:59:44
Why do you think ugo will get game time, will be caceido enzo lavia santos, carney will be competing against those for CM roles and nkunku palmer for the attacking roles and gilcrest a CB Will be against tosin chalobah badiashille fofana colwill disasi? Plan is to trim squad surely these boys need minutes and to play,
05 Jun 2024 00:51:16
Why’s that clueless, you think he will get enough minutes to develop and stay happy, ?
05 Jun 2024 09:24:57
Matt, If CG is sold I see Carney as his replacement and I see Ugo as the perfect fit alongside Caicedo.
Not for the first time I’ve got Gilchrist and Colwill muddled up and yes I would probably loan out Gilchrist out.
05 Jun 2024 09:53:11
You can argue that all of Lavia, Santos and Ugochukwu should be loaned out. They're 20 and they hardly played last season. They need to play as much as possible next season to avoid it stalling them permanently.
05 Jun 2024 10:57:23
RBD, you are correct there is an argument to be made about loaning out the three players you mentioned.
To be honest I haven’t seen enough of Santos but the little I have seen he looks a top prospect.
Ugo looked to me in his cameos last season who I think can play and is a natural partner for Caicedo.
Lavia will in my opinion become a top player for Chelsea and he is so good he can play in any midfield position.
If CG leaves, in my opinion we do not need to replace him. We already have enough talent within the club.
05 Jun 2024 12:55:11
Don’t think Hutchinson, Angelo or Moreira will be sold Tbf.
05 Jun 2024 12:55:36
My only major argument against your points here Tom is that I don't think we have seen enough of any of these players to say there is enough talent to replace Gallagher.
There is plenty of potential in the squad, but as fans at what point do we stop fetishizing what players could become and start appreciating the players we currently have? Personally I don't see any of the midfielders at the club being able to replicate what Gallagher does.
Lavia for instance, has all the potential in the world, but to say that he can replace what we have actually seen Gallagher do in my opinion is absurd. He's been a pro for 2 years where he spent one in a team that got relegated and the other injured for all but 30 minutes. To bank on him staying fit all season is a massive gamble, but to double down on it by also expecting him to outperform Caicedo and Enzo, which whether you want to admit it or not is what Gallagher just did, is crazy. Lest we forget that Gallagher missed 1 game out of 51 this season. You can copy and paste all of that for Ugochukwu as well.
I'm obviously saying all of this in a vacuum, not taking into account Gallagher refusing to sign a contract.
05 Jun 2024 13:20:47
Facts RBD. Gallagher was our best midfeilder last year and while I wouldn't sell enzo, caicedo or lavia, he outperformed each and every one.
Sales in my opinion should be sanchez, badiashile, chilwell/ maatsen and lukaku.
Incomings shoukd be a keeper, that cb from Fulham, and a striker. No more.
{Ed002's Note - Hall has already been sold, Ziyech has been sold and there are already discussions going on about at least five players on your list.}
05 Jun 2024 14:42:13
RBD, i may well end up being wrong but I’m very confident that Lavia is top class.
I haven’t suggested for one minute that Lavia can replace Caicedo who I think improved throughout the season to the point of becoming one of our most important players.
Enzo had an average season but I will wait and see how he performs when over his injury.
Anyway, let me make it clear, I don’t want us to sell CG I just don’t think we have to rush out to replace him.
05 Jun 2024 23:59:38
I wouldn’t be looking to sell 11….
06 Jun 2024 08:19:57
Standard I disagree on your midfield assessment. Cg wasn't better than caicedo. Mu issues with cg is he's not good technically and just run around with no desired impact. That's reason I don't really care if he leaves especially if he's adequately replaced. I would like eberechi eze to replace him.
05 Jun 2024 23:43:51
Thanks Ed, looks like all 3 left backs have interest so will be interesting to see what happens. Probably one stays and one comes in.
06 Jun 2024 10:06:13
Enzo caceido lavia ugo carney casedei Gallagher / replacement palmer santos nkunku even mudryk
11 players who play cm / cam, but I’m clueless thinking maybe chelsea loan out a couple of 20 year olds who’ve played less than 300 minutes for chelsea in the league so they develop and get regular football,
Ed, will both ugochuckwu and chuckumenka been with first team next season? Or could there be loans.
06 Jun 2024 10:13:45
Ed’s mentioned if CG sold there may be replacement is koopwrmiers or sudakov possibly, plus there caddie who will be there,
Just found it funny it makes me clueless trying to have so many players for same positions when them having first team football would benefit the club long term, I’ve said many times what a prospect carney is,
Ed, do you think carney will be with us or could a loan be good for both parties, I suppose mares a would like to see everyone and have an input.

When discussing this issue what we must take into account is that Enzo M plays a different set up/ style than Poch, possession v pressing which is why the new head coach will need a preseason to asses what will suit him best player wise. Many people/ pundits/ experts out there have waxed lyrical about Cucurella inverting in the last few games of the season, but have stated that EM prefers RB inverting, however, what if we can invert left or right? With the depth in this squad (James on the right) all this is possible!
Unfortunately RBD it doesn't appear CG is going to sign a new deal, in which case he must be sold. Whilst no one can question his love and commitment of the club (he is the perfect Poch pressing player) but we now have a new coach I don't think he will fit his playing style. It is no coincidence that when EF got his operation and Connor was "stuck" in the double pivot role, he looked so much better as he didn't try and be left/ right and centre pressing but just did his job. When, in a team you have a guy that could be anywhere on the pitch, rather than where they are supposed to be it destroys team cohesion, this is where I feel Connor doesn't suit EM, and if he decides to sit out his contract he won't get much game time and his "sign on" on a free will be less so I think he leaves this summer.

So much lyrical about cg, to an extent he was strong in poch team which was obviously underwhelmed. One would think he's a prime kante. ironicaly some still think he doesn't need replacing with his acclaimed importance. If he doesn't renew, he will be sold and if get his team together he won't even be missed imo.
Imo eberechi eze will be an upgrade. Cg doesn't assist nor score enough for his position. I'm not so worried if he stays as enzo maremma may not set up as poch did which will even affect his importance.
