Getting Steve Holland back would be wonderful, but seems highly unlikely that he would agree to come back as a number 2 to Frank. Yet we could certainly do with some personnel with more managerial experience in the dug out I'd think.

Along with all others, massively hope that if Frank is our new manager he can find - and be given the time to find - success in this. We all know how bright he is, and how committed to CFC, and I still have a couple of his number 8 shirts! But he would be taking over at an immensely challenging time and with so little experience that it is hard not to be a tad worried for the immediate future. Leave aside feeling pretty exhausted by seemingly never ending managerial musical chairs (had wanted both Conte and Sarri to stay longer) .

Had hoped Lamps would be our manager in about five years time ie after he'd really learnt more of the trade, built up his own confidence/ cv OR if manager now, at least have a more grizzled old managerial pro alongside to help. Anyway, let's hope for the best!

While I can understand the worries from some of our supporters, I’m really excited about Super Frank ruling the roost. I’ve always thought he was tailored made for the job and I’m not too worried (but I will eat my hat if I’m wrong) because:

A) Now is Frank’s time to get the job.
Something that hasn’t really been considered in the ‘time’ equation is the level that Frank is cutting his teeth at. While I agree it’d be great if he was 3/ 4 years in theoretically, I don’t think after 3 or 4 years he’d even be considered. We’ve struck gold in the fact he is now! As much as it could go poorly, it could go well! We may have our Ferguson. Football is so reliant on players and even without the loan players they had last season Derby would really struggle. They’ve let a whole host of players go this summer and the next years hypothetically could potentially harm Franks credentials rather than aid them. I can understand why our fans are worried for the same reason but as any follower of our youth team will tell you - you shouldn’t be. Transfer ban or no transfer ban the club has been dialling back big transfer expenditure for a while now, I’d argue the last few big signings have been so big because of the proportionate inflation in the market and not because of the clubs dependence on the player I. e Kepa, Morata, Pulisic.

B) It’s been said time and time again but Jody Morris is so key. His relationship with the players in the academy is invaluable and while “knowing the club” isn’t perhaps the best meritocracy for choosing a management team; the fact of the matter is he knows it just about as well as you can.

People didn’t want Sarri as he hadn’t won anything and hadn’t been managing st the very top for very long and were worried about his experience. if his name wasn’t frank lampard and was any other manager with a years managing and not winning anything they’d be uproar .
