Easy days in the season but Gallagher has surely got to be the next one in next season of the Cobham belt he has been sensational so far for Palace. Goals, assists, chances created, pressing and energy. Would we really need someone like Tchouameni when Gallagher is a similar box to box player? All these stars that have come from foreign leagues who still haven't adapted well I. e Havertz, Werner, Sancho, Pepe why not give the ones who do look very good who are already playing in this league.

Gilmour's loan looks like it will stagnate his career at Norwich it's the wrong team for him. Gallagher on the other hand is running the show. Obviously I'd like Rice here as he fits the proper dm role as he likes to sit but I don't see why Gallagher can't come in as 4th choice next season and we can send Saul back. What a player to rotate he could be and he'd be a good option to rotate with Kante the energy he brings to the middle.

I totally agree and I want to add that Gallagher is already good enough to start for us.
I think we need an overhaul in the midfield and Conor can surely play big rôle for us.

Overhaul? Ashk121; come on man, don’t you it’s still a long season to be judging players? Patience sir.

Of course Obinna, it is still early in the season but the writing has been on the wall for at least two years.
Kante needs a proper backup and replacement, we will probably move one of Kova and Jorgi and it has been reported that we will prioritize midfielders next summer.

Agree ash I like all of them but can be too similar. A physical destroyer (Rice or Tchouameni) with Gallagher returning who can also play further forward.

Here we go again, the season has barely started and people already know who will be good enough for the first team next summer. This is Chelsea, we don’t even know who the manager will be!

People are entitled to opinions. Just cause they don’t like yours there is no need for animosity on a forum.

We have added to a squad that was good enough to win the Champions League last season.

We have a good manager who isn’t an embarrassment to himself or the club.

Our points total after six games is more than most fans anticipated.

We should never stand still and we should always look to improve but we have done exactly that from last season to this season in my opinion!

Yes Tom, we have done extremely well but I think we overachieved a bit.
Anyway, we should always look to improve what we have and aim to be one of the best in both England and Europe.
We have a very well run club and I'm sure we will do our best to have sustained success.
We are just recognising Conor and the possible need for refreshments in the midfield.

Yes agree midfield needs to looked at next season; I would opt for a creative midfielder whoever stays or goes We may also may need to look at CBs, Silva will likely go next summer, Dave isn’t getting any younger and I have a feeling Rudiger might not sign a new contract.

Ashk, we have one of the strongest squads in Europe. I don’t think we have over achieved, I think we under achieved in the League last season an DM for that Lamps has to his share of responsibility.

We also didn’t perform in the cup final to a standard I would have expected from our squad.

This year we have got more points than most fans would have expected but I don’t think we have performed to our maximum.

It’s the next five league games that will help shape our season. I expect TT to get a lot more out of our squad and I think he will.

I say overachieve because it's extremely difficult to win a big trophy with a completely new team, like the one we had last season.
Our path to the final of UCL was a bit easier than the rest and that helped us. I agree about the FA Cup final but our league performance overall, was what most of the fans expected.
Let's see what happens in the next 5 6 games of the season.

Hey guys, let's not forget, the league, the champions league, the league cup and the FA Cup are not won in the first games of the season, but rather the last!
I read and, in most cases, understand fans frustrations with the "here and now", however we all need to see the big picture.
Before FL's departure I'm sure ED002 mentioned the club wanting to add an "advisor" which FL refused, hence his departure. Whilst I personally wasn't a TT fan originally, I have realised that what he brings is a "team culture", yes he demands, but will take blame when appropriate as he is the conductor.
I'm sure the club is many miles ahead of any of us in plans for the future. Connor has been good for Palace, maybe he needed to be in that prominent situation at Palace, rather than 4th of 5th choice here, to gain the level needed to be at to be a starting contender here. BG is the same, I think it's great that he's at Norwich, working hard.
What I am particularly impressed with in regards to TT is, unlike Jose, who had a starting 11 that he very rarely swayed from Thomas operates from a squad who are equals within a team.
Cases in point are Kepa, he was arrogant and tbh "rubbish" for both Sarri and FL, but under TT has kept his head down, worked hard, said the right things, and to be honest when given a start, has looked a proper keeper (never thought I'd say that lol) . Ben Chilwell is another, the big deal at previous club but not a start this year, but I'm sure will be ready when needed.
Like Tom, I think our performances will get better as we go through this season, and this team will make us all very proud.

All this talk of signing a DM is complete nonsense we don't play with a DM player and it doesn't fit our style of football.
We won't be going to a back four while TT is manager.
And shipping out experienced and battle hardened midfield players is a very risky strategy in a competitive league.
The club will take a view on replacements next year not after a few games into a new season and the fans should do the same.

I agree Strasbourg, TT would be mad to go to a back four with the players we currently have.

16.) 01 Oct 2021

To add to your point, I think the club might need to buy and sell central defenders, defensive midfielders to be ready for a 4-at the back system, if TT tries to change the system now it could end badly for him and the team. There’s a reason why TT chose the 3- at the back system for Chelsea (a system that he has never used before) to a 4- at the back system; you have to consider that the players that we have got (especially the central defenders and a few defensive midfielders) have their shortcomings- a 4- at the back system exposes those weaknesses. Everything has being working well with a 3- at the back system because the system hid the weaknesses of our central defence and the defensive midfield up until Thomas Tuchel undermined the importance of a quick wingback which is what brings the attacking balance to a 3- at the back system. Once our wingbacks are moving properly, we should be fine again. Simply put: Thomas Tuchel should stop playing Alonso and Azpilicueta as wing backs, they are slow.
