Matt Law

Chelsea reluctant to sign a new l/ b permamenetly in this window. Loan with an option a possibility if they can't get Emerson back which is the first choice. Signing one permanently now would mean they go into the summer with five left backs at club which makes little sense #cfc

Digne/ Dest both options considered but there are two or three clubs willing to pay to sign Digne permanently now, which will be more attractive to Everton. Barcelona willing to let Dest go but would most likely have to start as a loan from Chelsea end #cfc

But I've learned the hard way before that no matter what you are told, it's unwise to ever say never in a transfer window that still has weeks to run.

Good information Wheely, thank you.

My preferred option has always been a Emerson. I hope it can happen.

A left sided player makes little sense, before we know what's happening with others. But, Dest is a predominantly right sided player who can also play on the left. With Azpilicueta looking likely to move on, strengthening our right hand side is important. A decent signing here would allow James to fill in at RCB too. The fact Dest can add depth to the left aswell just makes it make more sense for now, when we're short there, rather than the summer.

Makes sense from the club, and correlates with what our dear Ed has told us.
Even though we are in a very unlucky situation right now, I trust the management to figure out the best way to proceed. They, historically speaking, seem to have made the correct choices, so why shouldn't they do it again. :)
