Both of them (Azpilicueta and Alonso) have done very at Chelsea, I wish them the best in their future away from Chelsea. Both are respectable legends.

It being a World Cup year may well mean that players will want to play for teams they think will give them more playing time.

Alonso can go if he would like as he’s got one year left on his deal and is 31. He doesn’t have the legs to provide a solution at wingback and doesn’t have the defensive acumen to play fullback. Have to say it doesn’t help that we play him twice weekly without giving a shot to others such as Saul and Kennedy.

Azpi is harder for me. Sure Dave isn’t what he once was technically or athletically but you can’t put a price on his leadership and with Rudiger (as well as possibly Jorginho and Kante) going that leaves a big void. Kind of reminds me of JT’s final season under Conte where he didn’t play but everyone spoke of his impact behind the scenes. Ultimately Dave has been an incredible servant of the club and deserves to do as he pleases ala Cech to arsenal.

{Ed018's Note - it’d be nice to keep Dave. Like you mentioned his leadership is well worth keeping him here}

I agree Tk, I wouldn’t want Dave to leave.

How many errors has Azpi had this year and his pace has gone. I’d let him go now and give the lad Sterling a go and get a new full back in who can play both sides.
