One rumour was we have blocked a move for sarr because until we sign a CB,

Then rumour is we will offer colwill to Brighton in deal for cucurella, how does that make any sense,
Best option would Be loan colwill to Leicester in fofana deal,

I don't know Matt, perhaps we have other ideas about our defence.

Seems strange buy, a player who can play both I understand to need for cover, this seems like we’d have 2 £50m players for specialist positions, colwill leaving is odd too, may not even be truth in these rumours so we’ll wait and see,

it may be a loan who knows.

Cucurella is a really interesting idea. Instinctively, I quite like it as an option for LCB/ LB/ LWB alongside Chilwell or instead of from time to time.

As for Colwill going in exchange, it might just be that he wants to go, in which case why stop him, so long as the value is returned?

I think Colwill needs to realise that regular time at 19 would be exceptional. Cucurella has 5 years more experience and, at 19, he had one game for Barcelona and was then off on two loans.

Sign Cucurella and we can maybe even get rid of Colwill and Maatsen in the same go. Fun times.

It wasn't that long ago that a lot of people were up in arms about Maatsen being allowed leave on loan.

Cucurella and Chilwell and both mid-twenties. Signing Cucurella blocks Maatsen getting into the team next season.

I mean, we can't have our cake and eat it. Signing £50 million players ultimately blocks our youth.

I suppose what I'm saying it, we can't be both excited about a new signing one minute, and then give the board/ manager abuse the next, when an exciting prospect doesn't get a chance.

We have to have balance between the two, so, no matter the position, isn't it best to keep a level head as fans?

I was one of those who wanted Maatsen to stay dihanio. My comment was meant to be ironic. We scouted Cucurella extensively and decided on Chilwell, now shelling out 50m for a left-footed player who blocks Maatsen's progress, and including our best left-footed young defender in the deal (or in an ostensibly separate deal, whatever) . Having let two of the league's most promising young defenders go for peanuts last year what exactly are we playing at? The thinking clearly isn't linked up here. We need a Director of Football, a good one, and quickly.

EdW, I wasn't having a go at anyone in particular. Just generalizing on how a lot of our fan base can act.

Some people thinking throwing money at players is the way to go, and the same people will end up going bananas when a youth player gets sold.

A DoF should help with this in the long term, hopefully.

It could just be that Chilly is some way off the pace.

Well Tom he should get some of those paces back by playing, not sitting on the bench.
I agree EdW. We need someone to steer the ship.

I’m just guessing Ashk. It could just as easily be that our new owners want two top players for every position but it wouldn’t be unusual for a player who suffered an ACL to take some time to fully recover.

"new owners want two top players for every position"

This could be it, Tom. I do think, it's not going to benefit our academy in the long run.

I think we're all aware, especially recently, that if a player doesn't see a pathway into the team, they chose to leave. Lamptey and Livramento being a couple of examples.

We are more likely to be patient with a new £30 mil signing if they make a mistake. "Give them time to settle in, he'll get better"

When it comes to one of your youth system trying to make the grade, we become far more impatient. Like they're not allowed to make a mistake. Blaming them on not being ready.

It's a fine line to tow, but I think we have to trust some of the lads to make the grade at some point. We've enough cup games now, along with 5 subs off the bench, that when we're comfortable, the lads should be getting more than 3 minutes at the end to see out the clock.
