I have this theory and worry about Havertz.

I don't think he is a forward and if we keep this experiment going we are going to ruin him as a player.

He doesn't come short, he isn't strong enough to hold the ball and he doesn't time or bend his runs as a natural forward would.

I think he has a touch of class about him but let's play him in a position that shows off that class.

We have a pressing need and I hope the club finds a solution.

I sort of understand why we almost had to play him there. Werner was woeful and we didn’t play to any strengths that Lukaku had and both have the first touch of a brick wall.

That era has now finished and we have to play to his strengths and it’s not the so called false nine role!

Problem is, we have three central attacking midfeilders in a formation that doesn't use one. It's madness. Even in a 4231 he doesn't start over mount in cam.

Saw a stat yesterday against clubs that wasn't in the bottom 3, havertz had 4 goals and assists in 30 something premier league games .

Havertz is a class player and has to be used alongside or slightly behind a genuine number 9 imho. Can also see like Tom why TT tried him as a number 9 given Lukaku's injury (and general unfitness/ lack of mobility when supposedly injury free) plus Werner's complete loss of confidence in front of goal.

Yes, the problem not yet solved by TT has been how to get the best out of our attacking players - by playing them in tehir best position and also trying to get them playing together often enough, without constant changes, so that they can really work out an understanding with each other - given his mostly preferred to date 3 at the back with two wing-backs formation.

I think TT did on occasions use a 4-2-2-2 formation at PSG (and perhaps before PSG) . But he clearly hasn't trusted our defenders - including of course our DM's. The problem of J5's lack of pace and fact that both Kante and Kova like to get forward? But would like most be keen to see if with rebuilt team we might try this or some adaptation if we can go to conventional 4 at the back.

Gotta disagree with you JBS. havertz played behind lukaku and was still very, very poor. He cannot create, dribble or shoot. Not qualities for a number 10 for me.

I'd go 4222 or something and go with Havertz up top alongside Broja. He can't play up top by himself, poses no danger to defences whatsoever.

Harvertz isn’t a striker and hasn’t had much chances to play in in best position. I fear we won’t get a striker and Broja won’t be given a chance ; so nothing much will change but let’s see how things pan out at the end of the window- too early to make judgements.

TT needs to change formation to fit havertz behind a striker, also loftus cheeks best position. He does worry me playing so many players out of position.

The problem for Havertz or anyone playing behind Lukaku for majority of times he started last season was just how little movement and at such a slow pace he attempted most of the time i reckon Standard. He just looked so unfit even overweight eg in away game versus West Ham game. To be fair, this particularly true after the unfortunate injury in ECL game.

Havertz is almost perfect as false 9 but again Mount is not a winger. Perhaps Havertz and Sterling as CFs and Mount behind them as AM. After Werner leaving we have to sign a striker.

Jackson if we are to play 4222 we can't sell Ziyech or CHO. We need 4 AMs or wingers Mount, CHO, Pulisic and Ziyech.
Werner is leaving so we need replacement for him. Or Emerson might stay and Cucurella could play AM/ winger.
