Woody89 and Maticthebeasy got a tad mad at me further down calling me plastic and stupid.

I really don't see how making a statement that if we were to make it to next step, an upgrade on Cahill is neccesary. How is that plastic?

As a fan I don't have to be 'we are the greatest, we are the best, Remy is better than falcao' or whatever. Don't need to be bias, I was stating my opinion that Cahill is looking a weak link for us at the moment. It was Frazier Campbell, Not Luis saurez.

One of you said something silly, 'he made TOTY', which I believe is ridiculous. You believe Cahill was better than terry that season? You believe gerrard Was better than matic? You believe Shaw was better than azpillicueta?

Do both of you really believe he is World Class? Because I don't. And as I stated before, if we were to take it to the next step, an upgrade is neccesary. Whether it be Zouma (who isn't an upgrade is he?), or a player like subotic, who is world class.

Good day :D

I'd argue Cahill was our strongest CB last year, better than Terry. We looked a lot less solid when Luiz and Terry played. I just can't understand how you can be so critical because of a shaky 20minutes. Also the majority of their attacks were through Terry's side and often Cahill was the one who had recover because of this, like his amazing tackle. I don't think he deserves the criticism.

Again, I'm not being So critical as he is very good, but he makes the same mistakes over and over, and was at fault 3 times inside 20 minutes, apart from that he was fine plus a brilliant tackle, however, it happens all the time. This season he's backing off again, been at fault for the huntalaar goal.

People need to remember, I said the next step. Would he be in Bayerns side? Or madrids? And if that is what we aspire to be, then he, or someone else, needs to be better.

I've also been critical of Willian, saying he wasn't Good enough (for the next step), yet no one disagreed, am I just being over critical, or is Gary escaping becuase of being English, lol

And I didn't feel any of the attacks went though terry? Throughout the game palace attacked Cahill.

There's also an article on WAGNH (we ain't got no history) about the palace game, and it backs me up on my opinion with Gary Cahill, if anyone wants a look.

Can't say I called you plastic or stupid so don't put words in my mouth. All I was saying is you seem to think that every player Chelsea has needs to be world class by the sounds of it. Cahill is a solid pro who has formed an incredible relationship and understanding with Terry at the heart of the Chelsea defence and because a striker gets the better of him once in a blue moon you seem to think he is no longer good enough and needs to be replaced. Stop trying to throw money at problems that do not even exist. As a poster said (sorry can't remember the name) if Mourinho thought that Cahill was no longer doing a good enough job then I am sure he would have given Zouma a chance. So personally I will agree with Mourinho and not you :)

Totally agree with woody. It just winds me up when people just want to spend money all the time. Cahill's better than Pepe for me, Pepe's just earnt a reputation through kicking off all the time. Cahill's not better than Ramos but as a partnership Cahill and Terry are better than them two together. Benatia's world class but I don't think Boateng and Dante are even though they're really good. We have Zouma to come in if someone's not playing well or push Branna to cb, azpi to rb, Luis to lb. I've said before about how much I rate Kalas but he's never established himself due to being injured now and again. All I'm saying is there's no need to spend millions all the time unless we need to and I can't bare fans who moan about something that's not even broken.

Cahill indeed is a good player. But in order to take the next step, which is in my guess playing with a high line, I think there are better options around. Cb's who read the game very well (and thus anticipate well) and who are fast are necessary in such a system.
IIRC Mourinho hinted at moving towards a system that uses a high defensive line to pin the opposition back.

Cahill is fine in the system we currently implement, but if we want to get to that other system we're going to need someone's who's better at it.
Perhaps it'll be changed when Terry gets a reduced role, as he too is not suited for such a style of play.

It's cool Woody, I forget my name too, sometimes. Anyway agree with you, though no one should be called a plastic fan it does hit a nerve when someone believes splashing money pointlessly is they way to resolve a solution especially when there isn't one.

All I can say is I like cahill but I don't think he's great he's ok put it this way if we had bought varane last window it wouldn't of been Terry that was dropped. My opinion

Interesting debate. I actually think we do need to replace Cahill in order to move to the next level. Varane alongside JT would be an instant upgrade in my opinion, with one of the younger players at the club eventually replacing JT.
