Was just wondering what would Chelsea fans (and even eds) think of a 'challenge' being available to each team once in the game.

It could be used to challenge a call such as a penalty not given, or a false offside call. I have seen some pretty awful offside calls this season, and I believe a challenge being available to each team whether it be defending or attacking.

Today I saw an offside call on Lallana, who, if he controlled and scored, would have been not allowed, even though he was clearly onside. And also the other way, such as defending. I believe if it was to be challenged to the 4th referee, then it would be beneficial.

I don't know where I stand on this as it would defensively slow the game down, but I believe it could benefit the game.

{Ed001's Note - I don't like that idea myself. I can see the merits in it, but I would rather we just improved the training match officials got and helped them with aids like lines on the pitch for offsides etc.}

Fair enough, could be an idea for a poll?

And it was meant to say Definetely slow the game* lol

{Ed001's Note - yes actually, but I will save it for when we make some changes to the polls system, so that we can have questions like that appear across all the relevant sites at once and the results be collated for all to see. Good idea to have that as a poll though thank you mate.}

No worries mate, always here to help, I can only imagine how difficult it must be to do polls on every page.

{Ed001's Note - it takes up far more time than I realised, which is why we are going to change over to having them across the footie sites as one. Though we will give a breakdown so you can see how people voted on this site, as well as how they voted overall. Might be more interesting anyway, seeing the variance across the sites.}

I agree it will Be, I asked on this page, arsenal and MU page who the best of ADM, EH and AS was, and I was very surprised to see Hazard the best, according to most.

If you ever need help, with anything on here, I'll do my best :)

{Ed001's Note - I am going to run that as one of the first cross-site polls to see if the result is still the same by then. As it might take a while for Ed033 to get to that part of his to do list, which is extremely lengthy, as I keep thinking of new things for him to do! He has a lot of work to do on the profiles and got to get our horse racing game converted to HTML5 + a hundred other things before the polls, so it could be a while. Be interesting to see if everyone still thinks Hazard. I would have to say that my personal favourite of them is Sanchez, but Hazard has a better system around him and so is more effective.}

Damn Ed, when using this site you just never realise how much work and time you guys put into it.
We're very grateful for that, kind sir! You're all doing a terrific job.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, I never realised how much work it would be when we started the original rumours site back in 2001. I don't know if I would have done it had I known! There have been days on end when I have missed sleeping to chase up info and keep the sites ticking over. The Liverpool takeover by FSG, for instance, was taking place in a number of different time zones, so every time I took a nap I was waking up to insane amounts of posts. I ended up just giving up sleep to try and keep up. It was exciting though.}

You guys have way too much to do. You should Definetely get paid for it, both of you, the amount of effort you put in is quite amazing.

6.) 24 Nov 2014
Well, hats off to you guys! Maybe you wouldn't have started the site if you'd known back then, but I'm sure as hell very happy you didn't know then haha :)

{Ed001's Note - I have to say, it has been worth it overall. It may never make me rich in monetary terms, but I do feel richer for the experiences I have had through the sites.}

Ed001 for president (and all the rest of you).

2001 hey, wow, I guess it started with just the one rumours page. Pretty cool stuff. How many editors are there at the moment?

{Ed001's Note - I think about 15 that are regularly about, plus a few that are off and on as time allows.}

8.) 24 Nov 2014
Is ed061 still around? Great guy, remember him from 2 or 3 years ago.

{Ed002's Note - Eaten by wolves.}

9.) 24 Nov 2014
Damn is he gone :( shame

Back to the original question (although agree with the love-in!) - the time has to come where 'third umpire' technology has to come in - referring decisions to a TV replay wouldn't hold the game up that long - if it is a close call the decision automatically upholds the original referee decision - for example, the Costa goal on Saturday would be referred but the original goal decision would stand as it was too close to call (although I think it was marginally offside).

I had been wondering along same lines as Aron. Can see Ed 01's point, but I would think a review system at some stage quite likely for major leagues/competitions given that tv audiences can see whole series of wrong decisions each week OR, and this may be more acceptable to those in FA etc, refs should be encouraged to consult off-field official in front on tv monitor -- this as per rugby union --and ask them whether there is any reason to award/not award goal (if suspicion of offside)/penalty/send someone off ie specified match changing decisions. Would at least rule out most blatant injustices or wrong person being sent off as happened in our game v Gooners last season.

My thanks too to all Eds for vast amount of work.
