Quick question with regards to Azpillicueta. Your interest in Shaw is clear for all to see, let's face it; who ISN'T interested, so if you did sign him, what would you expect to come of Dave? He's been on of your best performers this season IMO. Would you expect to see him move to RB in place of Ivanovic or become a squad player?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea who "Dave" is. Chelsea are looking for a left back because Ashley Cole is leaving. Chelsea made it clear to Southampton in January that they would not pay the price they were asking for Luke Shaw and have been looking elsewhere.}

1.) Ok, fair enough Ed, but the question is still put out there to Chelsea fans. What would they all see as Azpillicueta's future role in the side? As an outsider, I think it would be harsh to relegate him to 'backup' or 'squad' player. That's just my opinion though.

{Ed018's Note - I'd like to add in do you really think the left backs we are looking at are better than Azpilicuetta? I don't. I would think eventually he will end up back at right back but I see no reason why he wouldn't be the starting left back come next season regardless of what left back we being in}

2.) Ed 018 I agree it would be difficult to improve on Cesars defensive work but I am not so sure about his attacking limitations playing on the left.
I think it would be helpful to have an attacking left footed player who could stretch the play a bit more against teams that frequently 'park the bus' particularly at SB.
That threat would also create a bit more space for Hazard who often has two players marking him.

{Ed018's Note - I agree with you there, but I can't see any of the left backs coming in and starting over him after the season has had.}

It's really simple, let him play on the right where his qualities would not be compromised and get a new left back. I wouldn't touch Shaw for the sums being quoted. £18m maximum.
