How bad is Petrovic, what a horror show and so so glad the sporting directors binned him off and we picked up £25 million.

Agree0 Disagree0

RPD, do you think Sanchez is any better?

16 Aug 2025 05:33:16
I’m not sure our club deserve a round of applause for selling him after all the sale seemed to driven by his desire be named as our No1 keeper. He did made a couple of very good saves particularly one in the first half.

Anyway, one game isn’t going to define his season or career.

Also, for some reason I thought he was much younger. I’m told he is 26 (ancient) in a couple of months time.

Yes I do Jimbo.

Think Petrovic is better than Sanchez with the ball at he's feet but Sanchez is the better shop stopper, not sure how many top class keepers are around at the moment the days of Cech Schmeichel are gone.

It made sense to sell Petrovic given the circumstances but hardly worth a round of applause. He is no longer a Chelsea player so I’m not concerned about his performances. We should be concerned about our goalkeeper options though.

Seymns, Sanchez is a good shot stopper when he is standing up but he is not very agile against low shots in the corner of the goal. IMO, his biggest weakness is his positioning there are times where it looks like he doesn’t know where he is in relation to the goalposts. Looks like we’re stuck with him, I just home it doesn’t cost us.

I disagree about Sanchez and his agility. I think that is one of his strong points. I also have no problem with him getting down low. I do have a problem with his decision making. He often seems caught between two minds. He is a big lad but he commits himself too early when it’s one on one.
One last thing and he only started to do it towards the end of the season, he is showing his near post and trying to anticipate a cross.

Generally he improved towards the end of the season and was good in the CWC. Fingers crossed that improvement continues.

I also have more faith than some in Jorgensen. Who for me, has done very little wrong when called upon.

Tom, having a few good games doesn’t impress me, my opinions are based on his performances since he joined. Even in the games where he played well he still made errors: he is a mistake waiting to happen. He is 27 with a lot of premier league games under his belt: any improvement should have happened long ago. As for Jorgensen it is difficult to assess him as he has never had a run of games in the PL or “big” games. I would be happy to see him get some proper game time.
On a different note, there is a great video circulating of Zola putting Carragher on his arse twice in the same movement of play. Classic.

Jimbo, of course his end of season improved performances didn’t change my end of season assessment.

I would like to think he has been working on his shortcomings as I see them. I stand by my assessment that he improved towards the end of last season and in the CWC. It’s obvious that EM is going to start the season with him as our No1 but I wouldn’t hesitate to give Jorgensen a “run” of games if his form drops off again. Some fans seem to have forgotten how Jorgensen kept us in the Conference League final.

16 Aug 2025 18:33:26
Tom, yes that was the one big game Jorgensen was picked for and he did well. He mainly played in the Conference League against poor opposition and wasn’t tested by aggressive pressing ; that’s why it’s difficult to make an assessment about him.

We can only judge on what we have seen and he looks ok so far.

I always believe that any player assessment should be made over a period of time. I have no problem being criticised for taking time.
