Tricky fixtures in champions league for us if especially in first 4.

Agree0 Disagree0

JBS, I agree but that’s what being back in the champions league should be all about. Love it.

JBS, this is the Champions League not the Conference League, no trickier than for other teams. If we’re good enough we will get through the first phase. We have spent more money than any of the European teams.

Jimbo

Our net spend is probably better than most.

Yes new format means quite a few tricky fixtures for most in competitions. and exciting as a result.

Jimbo, as Bill says, our net spend is one of the lowest in europe.

Yes, net spend is important particularly for PSR and now balancing transfers. We have done well in selling players. However, if say we sell Jackson, Nkunku, Disasi, Sterling and Chilwell this summer: who are we going to sell this time next year? The point I was making was that we were able to refresh the squad. Barcelona’s spend so far is €26 million and Bayern Munich’s is €72. So no excuses about tricky fixtures.

All teams will be looking to strengthen there squad. The Bayern and Barcelona games will be brilliant for us fans and the neutrals. We should welcome the challenge and the exposure.

If the PSR rules are not changed then my guess is most top clubs will have to sell some of there academy players to balance the books. The interesting challenge will be wage turnover against revenue. If I understand that mechanism correctly our PRP structure will help us comply, certainly in the short term.

Generally nothing in this window has changed my mind about us being a “trading” club. So lots of continuing transfer activity. If that makes sense.

We don’t know how the new signings will turn out but hopefully next summer we will just sign a couple of top class players in the right positions. However, if the club persists in in the same manner, we may have to sell established players to balance the books. Trading players doesn’t imo provide for establishing a squad that can compete at the highest level.

All players at most clubs can be bought for a certain amount of money. Supposedly PSG were interested in buying Palmer. I wonder, if that interest had been real, what our asking price would have been.

We hopefully will have a FOS sponsor in the coming weeks and also a reasonable amount from the CL. So, maybe next season the trading will be less hectic.
