That might just be a good bit of business by the sporting directors, loan Jackson for a €15 million fee with no obligation to buy but a buy option of €80 million plus a sell on fee. Win win for us really, puts him firmly in the shop window where I think he might do really well alongside Harry Kane and we get his wages off our books and a nice €15 million loan fee which is about half of what it cost to buy him in the first place a couple of years ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

RBD, like you I read the initial loan fee then plus £70m option but then I’ve just read a “total” of £70m. Anyway, still a fantastic loon fee and potential massive profit.

Was just talking to a fellow ST holder who reminded me that we would have also lost Jackson to the AFCON this season.

Normally a loan fee is deducted from the sale price.

It would have been nice to get £70mil instead of £15mil though.

BM wanted a loan all along, we wanted a sale or an obligation attached, guess which SD's won the negioations.

Bill, I have no doubt we would have preferred a straight sale but maybe there is a reason we have agreed to go down the loan route.

I personally would have just preferred a straight loan with no option or obligation. That for me would have been more of an insurance policy for our benefit. I also don’t know if there could be a financial benefit for next season.

Anyway, I think our SD’s have broadly done a fantastic job. Of course not every decision will be perfect but no clubs SD’s get them all right and certainly no SD’s will make every fan happy.
It should also be remembered how they were referred to during last seasons sticky patch. We had one poster calling them “dummer and dummer. ”.

Only time will tell what the final sale price will be but picking up €15 million to loan a player for just one season who only cost £32 million in the first place is a pretty tidy bit of business Tom.

Just further to this thread and my earlier posts. There seeto be more information coming out about the Jackson loan.

There is apparently a penalty clause if BM do not take up the option of a further €7.5m. This would apparently make it the highest loan fee ever paid for a player?

Also there are easy to achieve performance clauses that could bring the option fee up to €70m hence the total price confusion. Also, there is a sell on clause.

Well done the SD’s. Looks like very good business to me. Having said that, I still wouldn’t have sold him.

Tom, don’t be coy it was me: actually it’s Dumb and Dumber. As I stated previously this window is an improvement on last year. I also mentioned 4 signings that I thought were good and I also said they would screw it up, which they did. If you think they have done a fantastic job, you are entitled to your opinion as am I. The proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Blimey you must have an inflated opinion of yourself if you think I can be bothered remembering names attached to opinions.

The proof of any pudding is in the eating. The same as act in haste repent at your leisure. Honestly some these anecdote's and general historical quotes are truly awful.

Tom, I was reminding everyone that it was me who said that and correcting your grammar in the context you quoted it shouldn’t be “dummer and dummer” [sic] rather “ Dumber and even Dumber”. If you can’t remember things why mention them? By the way, as to your posts: I don’t give a monkeys about you being forced to watch Dutch and German football; just saying!

30 Aug 2025 21:40:18
Jimbo, I remember the quote not the name of a poster as I’ve already said but if I had to have guessed the origin of such a stupid quote you would have been very close to the top of my choices.

As for your posts I wouldn’t limit myself to giving a monkeys about just one topic.

30 Aug 2025 22:28:31
Tom, I could have included many of your pointless utterances but I just selected the latest one; I couldn’t be bothered to: life is too short to waste time on nonsense.

31 Aug 2025 15:29:00
You are entitled to your opinion. ?.
