Interesting comments from Salah.

I assume Salah will look to leave but maybe the manager gets given the Spanish Archer before that is allowed to happen.

I have to say something seems very wrong at the home of last season’s champions!

{Ed001's Note - Salah is not wanting to go, that was the point of his interview - he is being forced out.}

Ed, you obviously know far more than me about all things Liverpool. Does that mean it will be a choice the club has to make, if that makes sense?

{Ed001's Note - it is becoming a battle between players and Slot now.}

Sorry Ed, I’m just a bit surprised.

Usually when that happens there is usually only one winner. You will find yourself very busy on the Liverpool site. Have a good night and a good few days mate.

{Ed001's Note - yeah it is very busy! Slot only has himself to blame.}

We dodged a bullet by not appointing Slot when he was available. The grass is not always greener elsewhere and I prefer Maresca. Fair play to Salah for standing up to him.

Hi Ed001, I'm a bit confused – I thought the prevailing narrative amongst Liverpool watchers has been that one of the key issues this season has been Slot's persistent failure to drop Salah from the starting 11 when he's clearly out of form, plus doesn't defend (so if he's not scoring goals, because he's quite selfish he's basically a liability in the team)? And that the uptick in form you recently had coincided with him finally being dropped? Isn't there something a bit prima donna-ish about this? Obviously he wouldn't like being dropped, but it does seem as though he thinks about himself more than the team, and this outburst is another example of that?

{Ed001's Note - nope, that is from idiot pundits.}

07 Dec 2025 12:55:16
Interesting Ed001! What do you think has been the core of the issue this season? Sometimes it seems as though managers can get 'lucky', in the sense that the transition from one style to another can yield impressive results that surpass what either manager were individually capable of (often when you have really defensively solid, but unadventurous going to 'handbrake off' vibes guys, or vice versa) – do you think that's been the case here?

{Ed001's Note - very much so. Slot is implementing such turgid football and it is not working at all.}

I find Maresca's football pretty turgid a lot of the time to be honest, Ed001. In cup games and against teams that come onto us we seem to take the proverbial handbrake off, and look excellent, but then fail to impose ourselves on teams that we outgun on paper.

One aspect of the 'control above everything' philosophy, it seems to me, is that if the plan fails (if the team goes a goal down, for example, or doesn't score early) it's pretty hard for the players to then up the tempo. I don't know if that's a Chelsea-specific issue, with some of our players, not exclusively our CBs but often them, needing an absolute age to make a decision (which could also be down to rigid positioning meaning players are generally static in front of them), but it seems pretty obvious that putting teams on the back foot when you have talent is preferable to ceding momentum? At times it looks as though we don't have a clue how to move the ball quickly, and that feels weird for a group of players that trains together week in, week out.

I'd add that any uncertainty in the goalkeeper position seems to be a real big issue in the modern game – Alisson's injury-proneness doesn't seem to have helped things for you this season?

{Ed001's Note - what you are talking about is exactly the issue with Liverpool too. It is a tough watch.}

Strange, I prefer the football Liverpool are playing this season to last season. ??.

Ed01, as you I have been known to have the odd flutter on football. I have been influenced by a mate who loves all things Liverpool to have a bet on the Bournemouth manager being the next Liverpool manager.

He mentioned something about a potential interim manager but I personally can’t see that happening. His phrase not mine “Slot is toast. ”.

{Ed001's Note - I don't gamble mate, Ed25 is the one for the betting. Or is it just a bit of a typo and you missed out know? Because it would make sense either way.

I would choose Iraola myself and Hughes knows him well as he worked with him at Bournemouth.}

Yep, you can add it to my long list of typo’s.
