Just one more small point.
It would appear the Chelsea aways fans love our manager.

The fans sang Maresca's name all night Tom, it was a clear message to the board that us fans back the manager.

That's good Tom, i wonder if the SD's and owners still love him.

The club must stick with Maresca until at least the end of the season and the review scheduled then. He should stay longer if he gets us a Champions leage place again and does pretty well in other competitions including Champions League and still has backing of players which he surely has at the moment.
Only truly disastrous drop in performance levels and results and EM losing backing of players sufficient for the club to contemplate anything else and even then the question is always who can they get who would definitely do better or might they do worse?

JBS, you all know my views on Maresca. I suspect that the comments at the press conference are just the tip of the iceberg. We aren’t going to win the title or Champions League so is a top four place signs of improvement for a club like Chelsea.
He will stay until the end of the season but I think the die is cast. The days of coaches having significant influence in recruitment are over : he knew what he was buying into.

The fans last night were unanimous in their backing of Maresca, it was such a clear message to the board that we want our head coach to stay, whether the owners listen or not is another matter? If they part ways with Maresca they will 100% appoint another similiar profile, either McKenna from Ipswich or Roseinor from Strassbourg and there are no guarentees either will improve us! The best we could hope for would be Lampard.
The grass is not always greener on the other side.

Greenaway, I don’t know about the fans last night but when I’m at the Bridge there is no love for Maresca. Obviously, you are right, if Maresca departs who knows what appointment would be made. If Maresca stays we will continue to be bobbing around the top four and perhaps the odd domestic cup: if you are happy with that, all well and good.

Of course we could employ another Poch as our next manager and find ourselves “bobbing around” outside the CL places and not winning any trophies.
The grass isn’t always greener!
