So I think we all know that Maresca wNts to leave and that we think Leroy Rossiner is going to be an SD pick (how stupid), how about a swap between us and Strasbourg in January.
{Ed001's Note - you couldn't do that with Maresca, it would breach employment laws to demote him like that.}

Why not wait and see in the summer.
You never know, the same people who changed their view on EM at the end of last season may well do the same again.

It seems to be as much Maresca wanting to go as it is anything else. Can’t say for certain, but I imagine there’s a clause making it cheaper for the club to part ways at the end of a season, hence end of season reviews. Ultimately, I still think an exit similar to Sarri’s will take place in the summer, unless form doesn’t pick up at all.
I’m sure Rosenior is a fine young coach, but, in hiring him, having previously hired coaches with no top level experience, in Potter and Maresca, the club will only show that those who make the decisions have really learned nothing. I also believe he’s better off staying put for another season or two. As a side note, Strasbourg have only won one in their five league games.
The gap between mid level and top coach seems so vast, I’m not sure there is an ideal candidate out there. Looking for someone in that top bracket, who can compete for the top trophies in the next three years, whilst operating in the club’s philosophy of signing young talent. Not sure that coach is out there and available. Developing a young coach alongside a young squad has disaster written all over it. Even if it does work out, as that young coaches reputation increases, so does their expectations around getting exactly what they want - to which our SD’s don’t seem willing to bend.
In short, I think the club have got themselves into a bit of a pickle, which I believe began with getting the Potter appointment so wrong.

Tom, you are correct, let's not over react over a few poor results and see where we are come the end of the season. Personally I think Maresca will replace Pep at Man City and we will possibly end up regretting that but our model, like it or hate it dictates that the sporting directors buy the players and the coach manages them, Maresca, like Poch before him knew that when he took the job.

Lets not Tom.
28 Dec 2025 18:05:51
Bill you said the same last season.
I want the manager from Stuttgart but that ain’t going to happen till the end of the season. As I’ve said before the Ipswich manager is highly regarded by the club but I can’t see that happening anytime soon.
Who is to replace him and does the change guarantee things will change?
Mind you Ange is available or maybe let’s get Potter back.

Maresca won't be going anywhere until the end of the season and rightly so as well. The target set is champions league qualification and a good run in the cups. We are on target and no new shiny toy is coming in at the moment.
28 Dec 2025 18:45:08
No problem Tom, let's kick the can down the road until the summer, if we don't reach the CL, who do you think will come to us and how many of our top players will leave?
28 Dec 2025 19:29:29
Bill, it’s Groundhog Day!
I haven’t got a clue about any so called quality manager being available now. Of course we could appoint an internal solution.
The grass isn’t always greener and we’ve seen the results of a short term solution.
And my comments are Groundhog Day comments!

Bill, you started calling our coach "Leicester Maresca" the minute he arrived last season, you predicted we would finish 10th, you said we wouldn't win any trophies so I think we all know you don't like him.
28 Dec 2025 21:07:55
Tom, the “grass is always greener “ has always struck me as a lack of ambition and an acceptance of a mediocre state of affairs. That said, if and when Maresca goes I do worry about which Joker might be appointed by the two chief Jokers.
28 Dec 2025 21:28:05
The grass isn’t always greener. Making a change without a plan is a recipe for a disaster and I don’t think any change of manager will be contemplated until the end of the season.
The chances of the owners/SD’s making every fan happy with their next manager choice are zero. Whoever is appointed will just bring about a different set of unhappy fans.
28 Dec 2025 22:06:39
Tom, it’s not about making fans happy. It’s about making an intelligent decision to appoint a coach who can take us to a higher level. The recent appointments have been poor. Sometimes the grass is greener. Maresca isn’t going to turn into a top class coach.
29 Dec 2025 08:08:47
We are in agreement the grass isn’t “always” greener.
My point about making fans happy is the next coach, whenever that happens, may well make you happy but might not make me happy is just what happens.
I’m sure the owners and SD’s feel they made an “intelligent decision” in appointing EM. I’m sure all there decisions are about what they think is best for the club.
When at some stage (all managers end up leaving) they appoint a new manager it will also be done with the best intent but I can’t think of any appointment that will make all fans happy.
