Since our new owners took over, we have finished about in the position I predicted. In fact last season we out performed my expectations.
However, a season that started ok has got progressively worse. We now look a complete shambles of a team. We lack shape, are tactically naive, lack aggression, energy and leadership.
I have been supporting Chelsea for over sixty years, so I am used to disappointment, relegation and long periods of mediocrity. I think we have some good players, so for me this season is down to the ultimate decision makers.

Ronsenior was right. The players do not want to play. Let's stop the system nonsense. I want to see a good clean up from top to bottom. Where we finish this season is now irrelevant. What is important is to have a good reflection.

Same, Tom, but during the dark days at no time did we spend over a billion pounds on players.
Somebody, somewhere, needs to grow a pair and get rid of these so called SDs.

The players can't duck this, Tom. The board, SDs, and various coaches have to take their share of the blame too, but it's unacceptable performance after unacceptable performance from the players.
No doubt, pundits and journalists will be talking about how our so-called top talent won't stick around with these performances, but they're the ones putting the performances in.
Derry was our best player before his injury. Palmer? Fernandez? Caicedo? Cucurella? None of them can hold their heads high - all have been poor since the turn of the year.

I may be wrong, but I think he was hinting they didn't want to play for him.
You are correct about the club having a good hard look at itself. Particularly the owners, the structure, and the so-called plan that they put in place. They own the plan, so take the responsibility.

The problem, lrm, Tom, is that the only time the players will try this season is the FA Cup final.
The World Cup is coming up, so they won't want to get injured.

Sadly, you may be right, Bill, but strangely I fancy us to beat both Liverpool and the Spuds.
J, maybe it's the after effects of the CWC, maybe it's the manager change. I haven't got a clue, but I'm convinced we have some very talented players, and I agree with a post I think you presented months ago.
Just maybe, with young players, you need an experienced manager.

I think you overrate our players, tbh, Tom. I have seen them make naive errors for far too long. We lack pace and physicality in the side, as well as any sort of creative spark.

I honestly believed we were on the right track last season and I also believed that we would continue to improve this season.
I have to accept I was wrong, but I still believe we have several top players who will come back to form and carry on improving with the help of a manager they believe in.
This window will be interesting. Will the club sign the players these SDs and the new manager recommend? My guess is yes, and we will also sell or loan out about eight players from this current squad, again on the recommendation of the current SDs.
