I believe that we have been hit with a £10mil fine, a first team transfer ban suspended for two years and a nine month transfer ban for academy players.

Bill, as expected.
Well done the current owners for self reporting and cooperating fully with the regulatory body.
I may be wrong, but I think we still have an FA investigation pending?

Absolutely Tom, the owners were correct in self reporting, but u do wonder if the league would have ever picked it up.
16 Mar 2026 16:21:28
Bill, if RA remained our owner, it's hard to imagine him reporting himself.
Strangely, and as I don't like cheats, I'm almost happy we have self reported.

Tom,
We still have the 74 charges laid by the FA.
The PL written reasons make reference to the FA charges, and, whilst it doesn't state outright, it suggests that the PL has ruled on basically the same issues.
Hopefully, the FA IC will be concluded pretty soon, and my guess is that the FA commission was waiting till the PL matter was concluded, as there surely has to be a consideration re double jeopardy.

Terras, thanks for that information, it's much appreciated.
I haven't got a clue, but my guess is our misdeeds could have affected all competitions under different regulatory bodies, so, therefore, we can be punished again for the same offences.

Tom, I think you are right: the charges, although the same, cross two jurisdictions. Double jeopardy was a doctrine in criminal law, which has been abolished and probably wouldn't be applicable in administrative proceedings.
Although, I imagine the PL sanctions will be taken into account. Let's hope the FA don't want to flex their muscles in competition with the Premier League.
My guess is a fine and exclusion from the FA Cup for next season.
16 Mar 2026 23:03:14
I would be surprised they would exclude the holders.
17 Mar 2026 07:46:08
They might, Tom, if City get their punishment.
17 Mar 2026 14:29:15
Agree with you, Tom - happy we self-reported. Amazing the time it's taken them to get this done and dusted, whilst the case against City remains in limbo. Guess that's the difference between cooperating versus hiring a team of crack lawyers to fight literally every single step.
