Gutted MM has gone, homegrown and a chelsea boy, however the club and MM couldn't agree a deal, we get a good fee for someone in last year of contract, and MM goes to a club in CL to give him a chance to keep on improving. A academy produced player we can be proud of. Best for both parties. The club have to sell on players, and of course players want to move on. All clubs go through a rebuild process its just now Chelsea's time. The club are building for the future, with some great young talent and probably more to come. however in my opinion with Poch at the helm i believe he will get the best out the squad and hopefully we will be pleasantly surprised. Really looking forward to the season, and seeing our squad develop throughout. It will be an interesting season. counting down to the start.

DBlue, your sentiments and summary is spot on mate.

Losing some of our favourite players was always going to be uncomfortable but we have lots of new fresh talent already signed and I’m sure more to come on board.

The new season will be interesting.

Good to have a total refresh had to be done, Mason will be missed but hadn't been at his best recently , looking forward to new season quite optimistic as long as we can stay relatively injury free

Kepa, James Colwill Fofana Chilly

Enzo Caicedo Gallagher

Mudryk Nkunku Madueke

plus others has the making of a vibrant young side.

I think we need better quality than Gallagher for the midfield.
The attack too is not a strong one.
Kepa is not good enough for Chelsea if you ask me.

Losing Mount is gutting and will be especially painful for those who value seeing academy players in the first team. We'll never know what really went on between him and the club/ directors but it certainly isn't great optics that the new owners came in with a commitment to building through the academy and then immediately sell one of the most accomplished players that has been produced in the last couple of decades. A shame an agreement couldn't be reached, but we have to move on and be thankful for the fact that Cobham has produced yet another fantastic footballer who contributed hugely to the only recent success we have had.

Who do we think will be the next player in this sort of position to come through from the academy? I always thought it would be Charlie Webster but it seems as though he is moving on. Perhaps Leo Castledine or Ben Elliott? Ed, do you have any information on who the club views as, for want of a better phrase, 'the next Mount'?

{Ed002's Note - I explained the situation with Mount.}

RBD, I was very hopeful of Charlie Webster being our next academy super star but I admit I haven’t kept up with his progress over the last year. I did think his contract ran until 2024 but that be my old memory playing tricks with me.

{Ed002's Note - Charlie Webster (CM/AM) Chelsea kiddie who interested two German sides is also of interest to an MLS start up but Chelsea would rather not sell and have loan options to place with Heerenveen and Strasbourg.}

Thanks for the information. I assume as we may be looking at loan options his contract has not expired?

Everyone seems to forget we have midfielder A. Santos returning from loan now he can get his work permit. I expect he will be challenging for a starting position, and could possibly be an option beside Caceido in a 4231. Very versatile and talented player.

Sorry, and we've got CC as well. Certainly got the talent across midfield, just not the experience yet.
Ilo, I personally wouldn't be surprised to see CG sold later this window after MP has had a chance to evaluate. Whist we can't deny his work ethic and enthusiasm I'm not sure he's Chelsea quality tbh.

Kiwi, you are correct about the three youngsters potentially being part of the first team squad for next season.

If we Sign the two more midfielders we are supposedly interested in that would give us seven middle in our squad for next season.

Like you I still think there is a chance CG will be sold in this window if that is the case then I guess the three youngsters will be in the squad. If not, then I guess at least one of them will be going out on loan.
