Morning Ed,
Will Mudryk be going on loan somewhere? I think this would benefit him.
{Ed002's Note - I rather doubt it.}
09 Aug 2024 14:14:19
Hi Ed, is it true we are signing Pedro Neto from Wolves?
{Ed002's Note - Pedro Neto (RW/LW) Versatile and looking to move on. Agent has been approached by Manchester United, who will need an Antony replacement, and Arsenal. Agent has also approached Liverpool who will likely need a replacement for Salah - and Neto fits the bill of a lift footed RW although is not first choice and they may have concerns over his injury record. It is unclear why Arsenal are so keen and they clearly have other priorities, but they are. Juventus fear losing young left-footed RW in Matias Soule and may look to Neto. Spurs are another side who will look to Neto band don't rule out a move to Newcastle. Prior interest of Manchester City has gone. Mendes spoke with Chelsea knowing that have been unable to sign their two preferred targets, and they are open to a deal if a fee can be agreed with Wolves. Maybe wanted in the Middle East which would push his value up. I would expect Wolves to now look for perhaps more than £50M for him but it would likely take the desire of the player to move. Concerns over injuries. Wolves have already agreed to sign his replacement.}
1.) 09 Aug 2024 14:30:53
Thanks for the reply, looks like he is signing for Chelsea, good player but has had injuries- might Broja or Chalobah being going the other way?
2.) 09 Aug 2024 15:06:08
I really hope this happens. He is total class when fit. I assume we will be saying goodbye to at least one of our wide players.
{Ed002's Note - Yes.}
3.) 09 Aug 2024 15:56:09
The big question mark is over his fitness Tom and also who will be leaving to accommodate him.
He has scored 11 g9als for Wolves I think but in c 111 appearances. But he dis look v threatening when on the break for them when on the pitch for them. last season. so again here's hoping.
4.) 09 Aug 2024 16:11:40
JBS, if I remember correctly he started against us at the Bridge and had an absolute blinder.
We didn’t know to stick or twist.
5.) 09 Aug 2024 15:32:30
Thanks Ed for the info.
6.) 09 Aug 2024 15:41:38
Ed will it be Noni leaving?
{Ed002's Note - Yes if a few can be agreed.}
7.) 09 Aug 2024 16:31:31
I like the look of him. But took me by surprise.
Ed is it true we now have 46 first team players. Are we going to see the likes of lukaku, kepa move soon.
{Ed002's Note - There are quite a number of departures to come.}
8.) 09 Aug 2024 16:49:24
Excited about the Neto signing but I really hope this doesn’t mean that Noni is leaving. Really think he’s got the makings of a top, top player and his sale could come back to haunt us.
Fingers crossed it’s Sterling on his way out but I just really can’t see anybody willing to pay his wages.
9.) 09 Aug 2024 17:29:20
Noni has been one of the successes of pre-season tourso seems to make no sense to get rid of him ahead of Sterling or Mudryk excvept for fact that there is little interest in those two according to Ed002. But losing Noni on to[ of CG meants losing quite a lot of physicality in our team and Noni had a good end of last season.
Cant make much sense of transfer business over last couple of weeks. but perhaps am missing more than I'm spotting?! Suppose it's about who are Maresca style players?
10.) 09 Aug 2024 19:19:01
JBS, I think Neto is class and will offer more than Noni and a lot more than Mudryk is at the moment.
For me this a top signing.
11.) 09 Aug 2024 20:11:04
I think he is a big upgrade on Noni, if he avoids injuries.
12.) 10 Aug 2024 17:20:47
I think Neto if fit will be an excellent signing it is selling Noni rather than SDterling or even Mudryk that is puzzling.

Raheem Sterling is someone who seems to polarise opinion as a player and a person, I feel the statement yesterday was a big error of judgment and the fact that they felt the need to point out he has 3 years remaining on his contract is a threat, my guess is the owners and manager will be furious.
For what it's worth I think his signing has been a mistake for him and us.
Does anyone feel he still has a future at Chelsea after yesterday?
1.) 19 Aug 2024 10:33:42
swcfc, I’m still a little confused as to who published the statement. There seems to be a newspaper involved and it was there decision to publish it about an hour before KO.
I would prefer it if all these type of conversations were done privately.
2.) 19 Aug 2024 11:10:59
TomB, the reality is Raheem and his team would have rubber stamped this statement and the timing of it’s release, you can’t blame a newspaper for this.
3.) 19 Aug 2024 11:38:54
Swcfc, I may well have got the wrong end of the stick on this issue but as I understand it the Sterling statement was in response to a Daily Mail article from earlier in the week and the newspaper decided to make it public one hour before kick off.
As I say I would prefer all these things didn’t end up in the public domain. I would also add that I’m not sure reminding people about the duration of his contract has got to do with anything.
4.) 19 Aug 2024 12:03:34
Tom, again I might have this wrong but my belief was he was told on Friday that he wasn’t in the squad and the statement was send after this.
5.) 19 Aug 2024 12:50:05
swcfc, we may well both be wrong.
It’s not clever whatever the circumstances but I think the statement/ comment from Sterling was made pre Friday and in response to a Daily Mail story.
I’m definitely not trying to make an excuse for the player or his advisors.
6.) 19 Aug 2024 14:16:01
Tom,
Did his advisers have to say anything to the press, has nobody learnt from the Lukaku fiasco?
7.) 19 Aug 2024 17:33:16
Bill, I’m not sure if you are aware but Sterling and the Daily Mail have a not very nice history.
8.) 19 Aug 2024 18:42:25
Think as a person he seems fine as a player we purchased him when his star was on the wane, I see no future for him mainly because Felix is coming, we have too many attacking/ wide players
Noni, Palmer, Neto, Mudryk, Felix, Jackson Nkunku there is no room for Sterling.
9.) 19 Aug 2024 19:50:05
There is no room for Felix if we are honest.
10.) 19 Aug 2024 20:38:38
Bill absolutely, where does Felix fit in? Clubs are running rings around us, Napoli now want loan with obligation to buy for Lukaku.
Tom, I don’t know anything about the Daily Mail article or the history with Sterling but if you make a response to a national newspaper you can’t seriously believe it won’t be published; that is the purpose of responding.
11.) 19 Aug 2024 21:14:39
Jimbo, the vast majority of criticism that I’ve seen was about Sterling was him supposedly putting this statement out an hour ish before the game.
Was he and his advisors stupid? Probably but if the reported sequence is true then that part of the criticism maybe isn’t justified.
I repeat, I’m not trying to defend him and his advisors. In my opinion the wording of his statement was regrettable.
12.) 19 Aug 2024 21:25:58
Would total agree that there is no room for Felix but he is coming so one or two will have to leave.
12 Jul 2020 09:50:22
Last nights performance was so bad and very worrying for the future, after recent games it felt like this was going to happen soon and it's rare to say that not a single player left the pitch with any praise.
My main observation is that every good team has a good spine to it, our spine yesterday was Kepa, Christensen, Jorginho and Abraham, possibly the weakest I have seen at Chelsea for a while, luckily we have options - Abraham can be replaced by Giroud and Werner next season, Jorginho can be replaced by Kante or Kovacic, but from my point of view we have no suitable options for the goalkeeper or centre half position.
We need to sign a new goalkeeper and a new centre half asap.
1.) 12 Jul 2020 10:12:11
I’d take Pope as a short term fix he’s a decent keeper and aerially consistent. Think Donnarumma would be best in the long run.
2.) 12 Jul 2020 10:29:27
O'Nana may possible be the signing Chelsea make. He would be the long-term choice. Fantastic Goalkeeper. Pope would be the 2nd choice, however Pope is really good too.
3.) 12 Jul 2020 10:33:44
Sorry I'd rather not reply to any thread linking us to the defeat vs Sheffield. Its in the past and the less said the better now. We move on.
4.) 12 Jul 2020 12:34:57
Problem with Onana is AFCON eventually. I know there’s not one this year but after that it will be on again. I don’t like losing our number 1 keeper for sometimes a month.
09 Jul 2017 20:29:56
I think the Rudiger signing is a great bit of business, we basically sold Ake for £20million and got Rudiger for £29million. Whilst I quite like Ake he basically had half a good season on loan with Bournemouth, we've replaced him with a guy that's played over 60 games for Roma, finished runners up in the league last year, and is a regular starter for Germany. And we have a buyback on Ake.
Whats there not to like?
1.) 09 Jul 2017 21:28:22
Fair point. I suppose on the other hand Ake has progressed at a high level through the youth system and did a great job for Bournemouth, and for Chelsea when coming back. What more does a player have to do to get a sustained chance in the first team. If anyone deserved a chance it was Ake.
2.) 10 Jul 2017 08:59:13
I expect CFC to go for Ake after couple of years when Cahill will not be considered as squad player.
I think because of experience at playing major tournaments Cahill got point over Ake.
30 Jun 2017 19:44:15
I think we are now all seeing Conte at his ruthless best, if he feels a player isn't quite good enough or let's him down then they will be moved on. Winter transfer window - Oscar, Mikel and Ivanovic all gone, so far this window Terry, Begovic, Atsu, Cuadrado, Solanke and Ake . Probably Costa, Matic and Zouma next. Conte obviously doesn't do sentiment, you have to remember he walked out on Juventus because they wouldn't match his ambition, but he does do winning.
I can't wait to see who he's bring in.
1.) 30 Jun 2017 20:47:42
Mate do you think at CFC he got all the power to decide whom to buy and whom to sell.
2.) 30 Jun 2017 21:10:54
he is in the group of people that decides and will have a big influence on who leaves, who texted Costa that he was no longer part of his plans?
3.) 30 Jun 2017 21:11:50
IF we do sign Lukaku, I can almost guarantee you that he is not a Conte signing. Im sure he'd prefer either Belotti or Morata.
03 May 2016 12:07:39
Last night was brilliant! I think we learnt 3 things -
1. We mustn't let Hazard leave, when he is fully fit and confident we do not have another player in his class.
2. Fabregas needs to play deeper, he has much more influence in this role.
3. Matic is still struggling and I'm not sure he will regain his best form, its painful to watch but he might need a fresh challenge somewhere else next season, I feel for the guy.
Other players have struggled this season - Hazard, Ivanovic, Costa, Fabregas but they have all shown glimpses of a return to form where as Matic still seems to be a long way off.
1.) 03 May 2016 13:08:45
I thought Matic did okay at least he's proved he can be class, Mikel has never been more than a squad player. I think a change to 4-3-3 and a midfield of Nainggolan, Matic and Fabregas will see him back to his best.
2.) 03 May 2016 16:09:57
Second half Matic tackled and moved the ball forward extremely well. Mikel can't even tackle. Fabregas is better deeper as you say.
3.) 03 May 2016 17:13:21
Matic broke up play very well last night - needs to be told just to sit in front on the two centre backs rather than venture forward.
4.) 03 May 2016 20:22:54
It breaks my heart to say it, but a further thing we learnt last night is that JT has to go if we are to challenge next year. The problem all season has been that when JT plays we have to sit so deep to accommodate his lack of pace - we saw it in the 1st half yesterday, with Hiddink screaming from the touchline for the team to push up. When we are forced to sit so deep, it does not allow our forwards to press high - in the 2nd half we did push up as we had to at 0-2 and look at the result (although Spurs contributed greatly by losing it! ) .
5.) 03 May 2016 21:57:38
Tottenhams two goals come from ivanovic bad passes between and mikel didn't they?
09 Aug 2024 20:11:04
I think he is a big upgrade on Noni, if he avoids injuries.
09 Aug 2024 14:30:53
Thanks for the reply, looks like he is signing for Chelsea, good player but has had injuries- might Broja or Chalobah being going the other way?
06 Jul 2017 11:44:28
I agree with Sid, the best thing would be for Conte and Costa to sit down and sort out their differences now.
18 Jan 2017 08:44:05
I think Conte would see him as a wing back, I agree with some of the other comments he is only 20 and very raw, but he has massive potential I've never seen pace and power like he has. The stats say he has no end product but training with better players and a great manager will help, he can only get better.
19 Aug 2024 12:03:34
Tom, again I might have this wrong but my belief was he was told on Friday that he wasn’t in the squad and the statement was send after this.
19 Aug 2024 11:10:59
TomB, the reality is Raheem and his team would have rubber stamped this statement and the timing of it’s release, you can’t blame a newspaper for this.
25 Sep 2023 08:37:16
TomB, I know exactly how you feel. I have been going to Chelsea for nearly 50 years, my Dad and Grandfather supported Chelsea as do my brothers and my son’s.
Now I also find myself disconnected and yesterday didn’t want to go or even watch the game, I watched the Solheim Cup instead.
I’m really hoping that the old feeling will return and I am sure that it will at some point.
Finally I agree with a previous poster, I would move Enzo Fernandez straight back in a double pivot, I see no sign that he is a number 10 or 8.
27 Sep 2020 11:26:18
I agree with your points whitey97, you can play any formation you like but if player's make individual errors like yesterday then it goes out of the window.
I know he scored yesterday but was disappointed with Abraham, felt he deserved a chance after the Barnsley game bit didn't take it.
15 Sep 2020 08:28:18
I also watched the interview last night, what a brilliant attitude for a footballer and his English is very good, thought he had an excellent game and probably would have scored if other players had been on his wavelength.
Unfortunately Kepa is going to be an expensive mistake, not good enough and never will be, and I know that’s harsh.
Happy with the win.
