Wow!

What a performance that was Cole Palmer is signing of the season and for me I think he is the best player i've seen in a Chelsea shirt since Eden Hazard. Everytime he gets the ball you feel something is going to happen. I love his air of confidence and his swagger.

Caceido and Gallagher both superb tonight, that was Caceido's best performance of the season so far. I don't think he lost a dual and bossed the game. We look so much better without Enzo Fernandes.

Buzzin for Alfie Gilchrist as well getting his first goal. Loved his interview their where they asked him about the penalty incident and he brushed it to one side.

Now to the penalty. Jackson and Mudeke both need to grow up their actions their was pathetic. However Im happy to see Gallagher growing into his captains roll and learning from previous mistakes and handing the ball to GOAT of penalties.

Hopefully we will have a big push till the end of the season and get sixth. Bring on Man City next weekend. Up The Chels!

That goal for United goes to show our lack of experience.

So many unforced errors this season has lead to goals that we should never concede, United now back in the game.

The goalkeeper couldn't have made it more easy for him to score as well just sat back on his line, he needs to come out and close the angles.

I would love to know the amount of goals that stem from a mistake. It must be well over 50%.

2.) 05 Apr 2024 13:47:01
Good point Tom and would be good to know stats here. Very hard to blame coaching staff for this or certainly they're not directly to blame. Caicedo last night an example and his reaction after United scored said it all.

3.) 05 Apr 2024 14:14:32
JBS, it sometimes seems as if fans think mistakes are deliberate. These things happen and it’s why in my opinion it’s best to make assessments about player after a season. That will be difficult this year with so many players being injured at some stage or another.

4.) 06 Apr 2024 01:01:59
I would say Tom probably 95% percent of goals stem from a mistake, like players losing their man, losing possession high up the pitch etc. Like Uniteds third goal where Badashille miss controlled it.

We seem to this season make the most simple of mistakes where we are cruising and gift teams goals. Disasi own goal vs Leicester, Last night Caceidos pass, Sanchez where he passed it to Declan Rice.

It just seems like time and time again we go ahead and then just switch off and lose concentration.

Anyway who cares we beat United 4-3 and couldn’t be happier, what a difference a couple of days makes.

I actually can't believe Sterling has taken that Penalty. Why has no one taken charge and given the ball to Palmer.

whitey97

1.) 17 Mar 2024 21:33:49
Palmer had it in his hand to take the pen. On TV it looked like RS persuaded him to change his mind. CG should have stepped in at that point in my opinion.

2.) 17 Mar 2024 22:15:10
Conor is the captain, his job. He is not a leader. JT sorts that.

3.) 18 Mar 2024 07:16:56
Enzo wasn't playing in the game, think he once stepped in in one occasion to get ball from sterling to palmer.
Poch doesn't hold his players accountable reason they do anything because nothing will happen even if it goes wrong. Maybe not here but I still don't think Chelsea will be a force again under poch like winning trophies. Poch was never the right man to rebuild Chelsea because he's almost the opposite of what Chelsea is known for. At Chelsea more emphasis is on the winning than the style.
Supported him once he's here hoping to be proven wrong but he's a bottler. even if we manage to get the final of fa Cup he would still find a way to lose regardless of the opposition.

4.) 18 Mar 2024 08:19:06
Enzo sorted it earlier in the season, Sterling need for individual accolades / headlines is and has cost this team numerous amount of times, from being greedy with 2 v 1 on goal, trying to take the ball off palmer v city or spurs? And today, what if palmer said no, I got this, it just adds to the pressure,

5.) 18 Mar 2024 08:38:49
Lots of teams would have loved to play in a domestic final at Wembley every season or any season.!

We have already been to Wembley once and will be going at least once more. Obviously picking up a trophy is what matters but let’s not entirely belittle any small progress we have made this season.

6.) 18 Mar 2024 09:35:36
I remember Lamps and Drog having a bust up a few seasons ago. We were going for the title and Drog was going for the golden boot. If I remember correctly Lamps took the pen and scored but Drog had the right hump.

We went on to win the game easily and the Premiership with Drog getting at least two in the game and the golden boot.

It has happened lots of times before and at plenty of clubs. Generally people only go on about when it influences the result.

I think if Poch is clever he will use that situation to his advantage.

Chalk and Cheese unfortunately from Wednesday night. Subs needed to be made at half time!

whitey97

1.) 12 Feb 2024 20:50:10
Awful first half. Shockingly bad. It's like they learned nothing from the game against Villa.

2.) 12 Feb 2024 20:55:02
The laziness is incredible. Where does Cole Palmer and Jackson play for this team. What has happened to Gusto’s quality. Madueke, really son?

3.) 12 Feb 2024 21:14:52
Consistently inconsistent our team. They should play to win every game but reckon they played in top hear v Villa cos a trophy at stake. Not goodvenough. Better be a fantastic second half effort.

4.) 12 Feb 2024 22:11:39
Eating my humble pie by the shovel full and enjoying every bit of it. Good 3 points. Brilliant to score in 90+ minutes haven’t done that much this season.

5.) 12 Feb 2024 22:16:08
Stephen60 calm down boy.

6.) 12 Feb 2024 22:30:37
Stephen, we did it at home to Palace.

Thankfully we got the three points we needed.

We are still just one of two teams that can do the domestic treble! hahaha!

7.) 12 Feb 2024 22:35:04
It’s down to poch. It was obvious no press just wanted to recycle the ball hoping for an opening, which will never happen playing so d so low. We play 10 times better quick and pressing.

8.) 13 Feb 2024 11:14:45
Is it solely down to Poch, or is it a combination of factors including:

A young squad who haven't shown any ability to maintain performances across 90 minutes, let alone game to game

A 39 year old CB who has to sit 15 yards deeper than the nearest other Chelsea defender due to his lack of pace, which slows the ball down in possession by dragging players away from others

Chronically inconsistent performances from attacking players who would be best served spending a year (or two) on loan in the Championship to learn their trade

Injuries consistently disrupting any connections we try and make on the pitch

A manager trying to toe the line between winning now, developing undercooked young players, ensuring the big money signings see the pitch (deservedly or not) and juggling perennially injured players.

9.) 13 Feb 2024 11:33:35
Agreed RBD. Thiago (who is one of the best CDs I have seen) has come to the end of the line. The team plays slower and are more predictable with him in. On another note, if the board are keen on pure profit to balance the books surely Connor has pushed Reece James (Real Madrid? ) to the front of the queue? Because let’s be clear, Connor Gallagher WILL make Spurs better.

10.) 13 Feb 2024 12:06:02
I would be extremely reluctant to push Reece out the door. We all know the injury aspect, but now he has had this surgery, we have to see if he can return to regular fitness. KDB has had something similar and looks like he's returning well enough.

When James is fit and firing, he's a game-breaking talent. I LOVE Gallagher as any regular posters will know, but Reece is a level above. He completely shuts down the opposition's left hand side by himself, it is remarkable. He is a truly world class talent, in a squad that is sorely lacking such players.

But yes, it is utterly moronic that we will end up selling Gallagher - let's just be honest about it. I understand why it is going to happen, but I just disagree with it, simple as. He offers things that every single manager desperately wants and is the exact kind of player we would be being linked to if he played for another club.

As for Silva, it's paradoxical but we seem to play much more coherently without him in the team despite him being by far and away our best CB. Tuchel figured it out quickly enough that he needs to play in a 3, so I don't know why Poch has been unwilling to try this more often.

11.) 13 Feb 2024 13:17:48
Lads, it will be a sad day when Silva leaves our club as a player but we can’t stop old Father Time.

I’m not sure we have sorted out how we play with a 433.

Nowadays Silva struggles in a four but more importantly the midfield three continue to get out of shape leaving each other isolated. If that makes sense. As fans we then criticise the midfield player who loses the ball but never the players who don’t show themselves as available to receive the ball.

To see a City midfield three support one another is just like watching clockwork. There have only been a few occasions this season when I’ve seen our midfield worked in a similar way.

12.) 13 Feb 2024 15:31:32
Just to clarify. I don’t want any of the proven YA products to leave. I want James and Gallagher both to stay. Not enough Englishmen in the team for me. and I’m
a Scot. But this FFP balancing the books malarkey ain’t going away.

13.) 13 Feb 2024 19:41:56
Stephen, unfortunately you are correct. With a relatively small stadium, no prospect of Champions League football and the ever changing financial regulations we do not have any wiggle room to increase revenue. The club do not have many options other than the sale of players to keep on the right side of the line.

14.) 14 Feb 2024 16:42:39
We have a supposed £50m for playing in this summer’s strange tournament. I’m not involved in the marketing of the club or in its ability to create extra revenue streams. It could well be that our new owners will negotiate stadium naming rights as a souring of extra annual revenue. At the moment we are just guessing at our clubs future financial position. I assume we have generated extra revenue from our league cup run to the final. We are also still in the FA cup and that can be an extra revenue stream.

It is very unlikely that we will get into a Champions league spot (top 5) but I still think we can find a route into one of the other two European competitions.

Like most clubs we will buy and sell players in the summer window and while I’m sure our new owners would have preferred us to be maximising our revenue streams, I very much doubt it’s as gloomy as some would have us believe.

Wow what a performance that was.

Just got home from Villa park the atmosphere was unbelievable tonight from the Chelsea boys.

Thought both full backs were immense, the midfield bossed it tonight and Mudeke in Particular up top is going to give Villa's lb nightmares.

All round great performance from the team and same 11 must be picked again on the weekend. On a side note loved the huddle at the start of the match showing the togetherness and throughout the whole match Chillwell was organising the defence.

We needed this tonight!

Quick high press. Enzo and caiciedo passing and moving forward, finding space. A joy to watch. Badieshielle is a bit dodgy for me still. Think disasi was brilliant. Him and Collwill will be solid, can pass out. I think chukuemeka could replace Gallagher.

2.) 08 Feb 2024 06:46:16
You can't expect to bring bunch of young players (boys) and expect them to win titles, it takes years. Chelsea needs mix of experienced and young players do achieve expectations. And that's what the didn't do. One overpaid talented kids and put a sick pressure on them.

Im happy with staying at Stamford Bridge as well and surely there must be a way of extending with a bit of clever architecture.

I do wonder if the club considered or bid for the site being relocated to Imperial Wharf right next to Chelsea Harbour for those who don’t know. Over the last sort of 15 years there has been a huge amount of building work going on round there and surely would have been enough room for a new stadium.

I personally would give Poch the cup final and if we lose he should leave. Its disappointing as he seems like a decent all round guy and is being hugely let down by the group of players.

Ed can I ask who are other candidates being considered?

I honestly think we could have Pep in charge or a prime Mourihno and they would struggle with these players. The problem is far greater than manager and is down to the two muppets running our club.

{Ed002's Note - There is no point discussing options at this time.}

I agree Seymns, give him one transfer window to clear out the players he wants rid of and give him a budget to bring some people in. If he doesn't finish top 4 next season he deserves to be out a job.
