Kai havertz again on the score sheet, a better version of dele Ali,

Agree1 Disagree0

And another goal.

10 times the player Alli is already. Havertz is technically fantastic, like a mix of Ballack and Ozil. I’d prefer him to Sancho as a marquee signing he’s unreal even if it means sacrificing RLC’s future. We can’t rely on Ruben with his injuries.

I’ve never been very good at multiplication but by the sound of it he must be some player!

23 May 2020 19:31:40
He’s that good he can play anywhere in midfield or attack and not look out of place. His aerial prowess in midfield would be great for us. When we play Kante, Kova and Jorgi all very good players but they’re too similar and there’s no balance between the 3 of them. Obviously the Chelsea board only seem to spend big on the wrong players I. e Morata, Kepa.

23 May 2020 19:46:12
I think the board have picked some good ones out on the way, Frank.

23 May 2020 22:16:50
Ha! Think Ziyech, Kova and Kante have been quality additions. Although still can’t forgive the board for the dross they signed in Conte’s 2nd season. Morata, Bakayoko, Drinkwater, Rudiger, Zappacosta for 150 million plus was shocking even though Baka and Morata were decent before it but none were world class. Not to mention the club panic buying Kepa. Should have just signed a solid prem keeper save panicking and scouted for the following window.

Think I agree, I’d take havertz over sancho,!

It’s all about opinions and I would have loved all our signings to be brilliant but just like every club we will sign players that for many reasons don’t match up to expectations!

The Roman era has seen the club spend lots of money on players and I’m happy with that.

It now looks like we are going to give more youngsters a chance to play and I’m also very happy with that plan. It could be that this will result in the club investing relatively small amounts in the transfer market going forward.

I’m sure the club fans and posters want every signing to be brilliant but it just doesn’t happen. The club has also been known to sign very good players who turn out to top class but not at our club. Football isn’t an exact science (thank god) but the benefit of hindsight is.

Tom, you mean the club have lowered their standard because not signing quality players obviously put us on the same pedestal as Spurs, arsenal, etc rather than the clubs at the very upper level. This in itself should be a concern for us because no club can do that and remain the same, competitive. Grooming young players is good but qualities, I mean world class, are usually brought in to complement the younger players and impact on their development. So that made us a bigger club we are today and any deviation could bring us further down, like only playing for top 4 like arsenal.
We have been in situations where we only needed just two quality players to step away from our rivals but continue to penny pinch and eventually spend almost the same amount on the collection of average players. Conte's problem was a case example.
City did it and are one of the best in the league and also Liverpool who saw critical areas of need and filled them with world class in vvd and Alison.
I was haping for Bruno before he went to United and I'm doing same for Harvertz now. We lack goals especially from the midfield and this guy play across different positions and remain effective. Good age for investment.

Ilo, buying so called world class players is no guarantee the success of the player or club.

We signed KDB and Salah and didn’t work out. So many things can happen at a club. Managers change, football styles/ shape change, injuries can happen, a player or his family might not settle at a club. I’m sure there are plenty of other reasons why a player may not perform to his potential.

I think the club is just as ambitious as its always been and in the Roman era the standards have IMO always been very high and I can’t see that changing.

I think it’s reasonable the club should look to get a return on It’s investment in the academy. That could be players coming through to the first team or selling players on.

We are no different from any other club, some signings will work out (I hope they all will) but some will not.

Over my fifty seven years of the supporting MY MIGHTY BLUES we have made some shocking signings and my guess is this will continue to be the case.

24 May 2020 12:15:42
KDB and Salah were far from world class when we signed them they were just potential.

24 May 2020 12:39:41
Jamie? I think if you read my first post carefully that is exactly what I said.

24 May 2020 13:00:19
Well near enough anyway!
