I agree Ed001; but Benrahma is quite a player, sometimes the best things might just come from the most unexpected places at the time when you seem not to want it. I think Chelsea should firm it up and get Benrahma.

i don't know about the rest of you lot but i for one would be happy to lose out on BC.
1st Job is to defend . i see him far from being good
2nd job is to attack . we already have alonso who is far better than him
Dont see why we should go for him . i really dont.

I have to agree Ed, Ben Chilwell was rather poor today apart from his goal. However, as Dareryk said we have Alonso and therefore we need Chilwell for his defensive work.
{Ed001's Note - and me, I think the same. It seems a pointless signing and it would make more sense to go with something different.}

If there is a chance why not go and sign Alaba? For the price Of Chilwell. He is still only 27 which would at least give us another 4-5 years of his best football.

The the player I would sign is Saka from Arsenal. He seems hungry and has a lot of potential. He could be nurtured into a good left back. Probably is unlikely though.
But definitely agree with Ed, I just don't see the difference Chilwell makes and especially at the astonishing fee reported.

Never going to happen but if we’re going to spend £80m+ on a LB I’d love us to go for Alphonso Davies.

Alfonso Davies will be the best left back in the world for many many years. He is the real deal.
Realistically we should try to sign David Alaba who will be 28 in a few days time but possibly has a good few years in him yet.

Completely agree Shak, i'd love to try and get Saka at Chelsea. His contract is running down so you'd assume he'll be available for relatively cheap. Especially since Arsenal may be desperate for funds given their financial situation. I'd be a lot more confident in starting Saka as our LB than Chilwell. He's been one of Arsenals best players this season playing in that position. It would likely end any chance of Maatsen making it here though and i'm sure the club rate him very highly so i can't see it happening.

Alaba would be perfect if he wanted to leave Bayern. Versatile and a leader. Him and Reece James would give a good balance either side.

David Alaba is quality I would be over the moon if we signed him. I assume there's no chance he leaves Bayern though.

Personally I don’t think Chillwell is the answer for us. Massively hyped off the back of a few good games and being English. Has good energy and delivery down the left but very limited defensively. Would command a huge fee I imagine too, and added to that the attitude problems that Ed01 has mentioned I would steer clear. With Tagliafico being available this summer he would be a preferable option in my eyes - defensively very solid, used to the high energy pressing game, and has a good delivery. On Alaba, Ed02 mentioned he may be available this Summer and I think he could be a fantastic option - brings experience, comes from a club used to winning things, can cover CB too. Imagine the overall package with his wages, etc, would be sizeable though.
