I've said many times that I would rather we kept Jackson but I have to admit we did strike, in my opinion, a very advantageous loan deal with BM. Also remember it is as AFCON year.

I also believe the club has the right to do what it considers best for the team.

I'm usually wrong with these sort of predictions but it doesn't bother me. I still think Jackson goes to Bayern in this window.

Agree Tom a Jackson return looks imposible to me, we have enough options to cover Delap although I think George stays now.

The loan deal for Jackson is a brilliant piece of business by the club Tom but needs must, with palmer out with what may be a more serious injury than any of us know about and Nkunku moving to Milan it does leave us a bit light. George did ok but is he ready? Estevao is a brilliant prospect but is only 18 and we need to protect him from the vigours of games every 3 days which will start in September, Garnacho will be a big plus because he will lock up that left side but an injury to Joao Pedro would leave us in the mire. It is either recall Jackson or go back into the market as we don't have a young striker who is ready to step up.

Agree that to insist on return of player we told was surplus to requirements and was on verge of joining a team as bug as Bayern is not likely to end well for either party. NJ could be even more combustible than ever being angry and disappointed and potentially a disruption influence on and off field. Though of course many would hope he would be properly professional and link up well again with team. mates he knows well. But given he is seemingly refusing to return now you'd hope a solution that suited both sides eg CFC finding an alternative before transfer deadline could be found. Or CFC promosing to allow hom to leave in January to Bayern if they wete willing but could then be that NJ heart not set in playing his best fir us or risking injury etc. So looks a v tricky situation we created for ourselves by thinking 2 strikers enough in squad for hugely busy season.

We can wait until after Monday for Jackdon to come back as we don't have a game now until after the internationals.

I really don't care how he feels, he is still a CFC player.

I'm fed up this window with players doing tools. Yes, the odd one has happened in the past but this window, it has exploded.

I like other posters think we will bring in another striker possibly on loan (are there any strikers at Brighton we could borrow)

31 Aug 2025 10:17:10
I agree with you Bill, too many players downing tools this summer, I see the Brentford striker is another one this morning! We also need to set the record straight that the club were not pushing Jackson out at all as some have stated, rather the opposite in fact where Jackson himself asked to be allowed to consider his future as he didn't want to have to compete with Delap for a starting spot. So, Mr Jackson and your plane full of advisors, buck your ideas up and return home or get your friends to ask Munich to stump up the full transfer fee rather than a loan with an option to buy and we can then sign a replacement who is prepared to knuckle down and fight for a starting spot.

31 Aug 2025 11:04:55
Would be ideal if Munich would pay full fee for Jackson now but seems v unlikely. I agree that player power has often go out of hand in recent times but we've always been a club that let's players go who no longer want to play for us and that seems sensible to. me! Problem has been created by letting one of only three strikers leave without having replaced him.

Totally agree RPD and JBS, really bad planning espically when every man and his dog talked about the fact there will be injuries after the CWC.

31 Aug 2025 11:50:38
So here is another scenario, let's say Jackson goes on loan with an option but then BM don't want him after this season. He obviously does not want us anymore the little diddums.

Most football supporters are fed up with footballers agitating for transfers and throwing their toys out of the pram. However, due to the huge amounts of money involved power has shifted to the players and that is unlikely to change. On the flip side, often when a new coach comes in he decides to change the system and believes certain players don’t suit it. The club then manoeuvres for the player to move on or be omitted from the squad. Football is one industry where a written contract isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. So as to adherence to contracts neither the clubs nor players come up smelling of roses.
As to Jackson, up to now, I’m not sure what he has done wrong. Maresca publicly stated that he had his two strikers and omitted him from the squad. It was not unreasonable for him and his representatives to consider their options in a transfer window. The club were happy to let him go hence the loan agreement with Munich.
I am surprised with the suggestion that we should have had three strikers for cover; when have we ever had that. We are a club with resources that most clubs envy. Why we couldn’t work around a striker being out for 8 weeks amazes me. It certainly isn’t a good look for the club.

31 Aug 2025 15:34:57
JBS, I mentioned in an earlier post that maybe Jackson could join BM in the next window but this year is also an AFCON year. I’m not sure when that competition starts and ends but it could affect game time for BM or maybe us. If it’s us, why are we bothering trying to call him back? If that makes sense.

31 Aug 2025 16:27:29
It because we only have one striker zyom. Didn't we have enough last season trying to fit square pegs in round holes. If we are going for the league, we must have a few strikers, leaving us with just two was criminal.

31 Aug 2025 17:45:33
Bill, I think two so called strikers should be enough for a season. Of course suspensions and injuries might deprive a team any strikers for a period of time but it’s not as if we haven’t played with the so called false nine before.

My guess is that they have stalled the loan for Jackson until they get the results of the scan he apparently had today. If it’s six ish weeks out, I think the deal goes ahead .

31 Aug 2025 18:57:19
Tom

I think we get Jackson back and if not, we will get another striker.

To do that, the loan deal for Jackson will have to be turned into an obligation.

31 Aug 2025 19:30:51
Bill, you may well be right. I guess we could pay to get the lad back from Sunderland. Let’s be cheeky and ask BM to pay the compensation! ?.

31 Aug 2025 21:44:46
Bill, it would appear you have made yet another good call. You’re on fire mate.
